The DSA believes electoralism is a sin that they're forced to engage in up to a certain point, which goes a long way toward explaining why they get so mad when you object to them not going above and beyond the bare minimum. They feel they're already making a huge sacrifice by participating at all.

It’s underrated how many of the cardinal achievements of modernity are things that allow for you to interact with people you don’t personally trust. “Contracts are enforceable” and “my safety doesn’t depend on someone being willing to avenge me” really changes the ways you can live.
