I have those collections in the awful recolored versions. Thinking I might try this one, as black-and-white really suits this material.

it's not the main thing we need, but we do need a David Lodge style Changing Places exchange program so that professors realize the way their institution does things is not standard nor inevitable

I don’t have the context, of course, but I love the idea that an error that can only be seen—mistaking “beetle” for “Beatle”—is here somehow heard, in the dialogue. The most Derridean Archie strip of all time.

It’s exhausting. A week of injury reports, betting odds, pundits’ predictions, and reporting on coaches’ seemingly endless interviews. It’s interesting to me that soccer, also a weekly sport, doesn’t function in the same way (though maybe I shut that part out, since I actually like soccer).

Nice day for a trail run with @rlevay.bsky.social.
Arid mountain landscape, with a trail running through the center of grasses, sagebrush, and other plants. Leaves are starting to turn orange in the valley.

This is what I love about watching the X-Files in the present day. Landlines, floppy discs, paper file folders, an evening spent in a small-town library’s town records.

Bad AI art has rapidly taken over the food advertising at the Eastern Idaho State Fair, but at least a few places still know how it’s done.

There's one other aspect to this: most long-running franchises have faltered because the writers think they are supposed to write grand story arcs that cater to the fans instead of the formulaic adventure stories that made people fans in the first place. Never bet against Umberto Eco!
