For a lot of people the purpose of politics is to inflict cruelty. I think those people are horrified by Mamdani because there’s no obvious cruelty, so they assume it must be secret and they must be the targets. They can’t imagine a world where someone doesn’t dream about hurting others.

My dad was the XO of a submarine when I first saw this movie and he looks exactly like the XO of the Dallas. Every time the Dallas intercepts the torpedo and the sonar man says “You’ve done it Mr Thompson!” to the XO, I burst into tears and immediately want to call my dad. Wild.

Scotland is one of the four consituent countries of the United Kingdom. Each fields their own teams because they are separate countries. There is no UK team. If anything, the US PR set up is more illogical.
