I lost my grandmother and an aunt to dementia - it is a horrible disease, and it hurts so much to watch them go. This is a way of offering an ease in the going, even if we cannot take away the hellish disease itself.
I hope more people will realize what a boon hospice can be.
I'm sharing this because if you're ever in the position of having to decide whether to accept hospice care for a loved one with dementia (and I sincerely hope you never find yourself in this position), I hope you don't balk.
