Susan Collins is about as big of an incumbent advantage you can get. It sure is odd how the biggest polling difference from 2024 is in the red midwest

Average hourly earnings, adjusted for inflation, are now essentially back to where they were when Trump returned to office. Meaning that, on average, Americans have experienced almost zero real wage growth during Trump's second term.

I'm guessing this is the political prosecution of Ohmar. It's not like he hasn't done this before with Lisa Cook. This just happens to be an elected rep instead of an appointed bureaucrat.

I work with corporate software and I had 5.5 fix a complicated test that required domain knowledge about what is allowable obfuscated test values and it did it no problem. I wouldn't have been able to do it myself, I would have required to ask others and spend hours on it

+5 without Iowa and +6 with. Iowa is probably somewhere between +9 and +10 generic ballot points for it's tipping point. That'd put Dems at 53 in the senate

The #1 thing you can do to help small businesses is remove the burden of health insurance. Do you think there is political will to make every American use the ACA website for healthcare and cut the employer out of the loop?

I've been listening to this Hank Green recommendation and it's pretty good so far. Im about half way through and it makes a good case that intelligence is a general prediction machine. What Is Intelligence? by Blaise Aguera y Arcas on Audible. www.audible.com/pd/B0G4STRP8...

What Is Intelligence?
Check out this great listen on Audible.com. What intelligence really is, and how AI’s emergence is a natural consequence of evolution. It has come as a shock to some AI researchers that a large neural net that predicts next words seems to produce a system with general intelligence. Yet this ...

The cost of dlss for example is not that high, it's a small model compared to LLMs. It is being paid for over many years of selling consumer GPUs. It's software that could reasonably be assumed to last 10 years, so does something like 10 years of 5% of GPU renevue pay for it? Probably yeah.

The cost of r and d and physical assets like data centers must be amortized over some years of revenue. How many years and what sources of revenue you do that over is currently a subject of much debate and one of the places AI companies are likely cooking the books.

But to you're point, once the bubble pops and we socialize all the losses due to over build out, we'll be able to economically run these models. It's not until the bubble pops that we'll be able to do a real cost benefit on these

I don't for a minute believe anyone is pricing these things close to cost. Everyone is trying to be the best in hopes of becoming a monopoly regardless of cost and charging people based on what they'll pay (which is significantly below costs)

Yeah. Hopium is just getting a lot of likes on this site. The general discourse around polling and predictive models in generally bad I think it's pretty common knowledge that trump brings unlikely, un-poll-able voters out to vote. I expect the polls to be close to correct like 2022 and 2018.

I think every major company is looking at open weight AI models and realizing they can just bring them in house with an internal engineering team and cut out the frontier model companies to save money. They have more control and privacy. I really don't see frontier labs surviving this.

I liked my vive 1. There are some experiences that are great and unique as a medium that is its own thing. It will not replace video games. 1. Motion sickness cannot be overcome. 2. Isolation is not what most people want. Less importantly, devices are only good at the high end, wireless and light.
