Hard not to notice that Democrats who are doing the best are the ones who are leaving this whole civility-and-norms, we-go-high, we-need-a-strong-Republican-Party bullshit behind and are simply giving Republicans exactly what they all ought to get at all times, which is undisguised contempt.

It's possible to have good faith disagreements about the upper marginal income tax rate, foreign policy, or the defense budget. It's not possible to have good faith disagreements about which people should be denied basic human rights.

Much broader point than Janet's. But, many of us got pulled into libertarianism because we were worried about the Patriot Act and general centralization of power. And then, well, the vast majority of people who called themselves libertarians went all-in on racism and misinformation.

After FDR cleaned up the mess created by Calvin Coolidge and blamed on Herbert Hoover, Democrats spent decades reminding voters what the two parties had done. In recent generations, that basic act of politicking has been deemed impolite by Democratic leaders. That needs to end.
