Hey! I've been inactive here on BlueSky for a really long time. I see there are 800 folks following me, so I just wanted to say "Hi" and see if anyone still receives my posts. By the way, this piece was done for Yovakyana RPG Setting and is postraying a Simurgh creature from Persian lore.

Not really sure how to name this one yet. Any suggestions? It was a fun experiment where I tried pushing my pencils and watercolors much more than I usually do, before laying my ink lines. The result is a bit darker than intended, and my values got a bit messed up, but I learned a lot with this one.

Hi Matsya, I'm glad to have found you here too. Thanks for your video, probably what I needed to hear right now, and for the sincerity in reporting your experience (which also shines through in your eyes). I love you trees, your use of watercolors and the spirituality that flows from your artworks

DOORWAY TO THE WEST (2006) Acrylic on Panel - 12" x 9" Another search for the light. Creating the illusion of texture in paint, the process of actually painting it, can be an act of meditation. 1/2

A solitary flame contained in a transparent sphere floats across the threshold of an uneven stone doorway set in ancient ruins. Shadow cuts across the broken remains of the facade. The sky beyond is partially cloudy, lit golden over placid water defining the horizon. In the immediate foreground, three stone steps lead up to portal, but the ground is overgrown with wild vegetation. Flowers add an occasional splash of blue, white, and yellow at the stub of wall and on the short path to it.

I still like this tree so much! I remember when I was working on this illustration, I tried laying acrylic paint on top of my graphite drawing. It just covered up the drawing almost entirely, so in the end I just worked with Ink on top of my acrylic paint and got away with it.

CROWN OF SHADOWS (1995) Acrylic on Panel - 28" x 22" There's something in the complexity of an anti-hero that grabs the attention of readers. Such rich characters naturally provide an illustrator with opportunity to revel in the shadows. 1/4

An elegant man with shoulder length blonde hair and eyes glinting gold strides between a pair of trees barren of leaves but colored by alien lichen creeping up the trunk. He holds aloft a black sword drenched in purple flame. The edge rides a sinuous curve peaking high then retreating to upturned quillions and a curved grip tapering thin in the middle. The modest flames stand in contrast to shaded greens that tint the mountains behind him. His bearing is regal; his clothes made of fine black leather with gold trim and filigree. A purple sash runs beneath his long jacket, which sways trailing his motion. Behind him ephemeral spirits rise—the most prominent female with one arm and one knee raised. A volcano dominates the background, billowing smoke as it roils with electric green flame.
