that being said, Atlético Mineiro, Corinthians, Botafogo (hey John!) have pretty serious debt issues. I don’t know that their rosters matches up with what MLS clubs are looking for but those would be the clubs to watch

you’re maybe a bit off base here w/r/t Brazil. most clubs are running pretty balanced books at this point, and the gambling windfall hasn’t resulted in crazy spending, imo. if MLS is gonna buy from Brazil, it’s gonna have to be in the DP or very high TAM market, not the past mid roster spend.

something I’ve found in general is that 5 over 1s in cold weather are dramatically better than those in the Sun Belt. need for more insulation -> better soundproofing & build quality is my best guess. also less rapacious investors, if I had to guess.

and, frankly, one of the biggest issues with evacuation is traffic. in the case of Tampa, people often drive along I-4 to Orlando and it’s total gridlock for 70 miles. the car being the default method of evacuation is actually an issue.

Inland you will be hit hard with rain and maybe some roof damage, but unless you’re getting hit with the full force of the storm and live near the coast, storm surge will not be a major issue (and thus, mandatory evacuation is not necessary).

I grew up in Tampa. In 20 years there I was under mandatory evacuation once (Irma). Honestly would’ve have been fine to stay. Funnily enough, the biggest damage anybody I knew suffered from that particular storm was a flooded car my barber left behind.
