actionnetwork.org/letters/ice-... Demand Gov. Ned Lamont release $10 million for legal defense and family support while Connecticut is under violent siege by DHS
Immigrant community organizers and their neighbors have been leading the response to ICE's unlawful vigilante-style attacks on Connecticut families and neighbors.

When one family is thrown into crisis it takes the effort of many people to fight for the release of the detained person and to offer material, legal and emotional support to the remaining family members.

And in just the last month alone more than a hundred Connecticut families lost someone, often taken in a random, disproportionate rampage of over-resourced power.

Many in CT are from extended families with mixed status so the direct impact ripples through our towns and directly affects citizens and documented immigrants as well as immigrants who -- for many reasons -- may be out of status and afraid to live daily life, to go to work or court or worship or shop for groceries.

It is wrong to lay all the burden for coping with this systemic harm on people who feel personal commitment to respond but are already short on resources.

It's crucial for the state of Connecticut to support the work or addressing the ongoing damage to our whole society.

I'm asking you to create a $10 million emergency fund for legal defense and family stability.

No one should have to fight deportation without a lawyer. No family should have to choose between paying for legal representation and keeping a roof over their heads.

I am also asking you to work with the Attorney General and General Assembly to disrupt the lawless arrogance of ICE agents going out of their way to mock the letter and intent of the TRUST Act.

Ignoring provocative violations of the TRUST Act normalizes lawless behavior. Failing to respond is confirmation that Steven Miller's henchmen can get away with more, and they will always continue to escalate.

The whole point of making "collateral" arrests in flamboyant and shocking fashion is to create an atmosphere of terror. They are literally terrorists sowing fear. That's the whole point.

We can'…

For families close to the edge, digital access is not real access. It assumes a working phone, internet, data, language access, digital literacy, and time.

NEW: ICE tased a man in Danbury on Thursday, sending him to the hospital. I got video and the 911 call. DHS says the man reached for a pocketknife. It comes after four days of ICE sweeps in the city and dozens of arrests. My latest at @ctinsider.bsky.social — www.ctinsider.com/news/article...

Thank you Trump for keeping us safe with a TSA screening to watch fireworks on the Washington Mall: a thing that was not necessary before Trump fixed the city and Made It Safe Again Thank you for protecting us from sunscreen, Mr Trump
For the first time, this year's Independence Day celebration has been designated a national special security event, the highest security level. Such designations are usually given to events that the Department of Homeland Security determines are potential targets for terrorism or other criminal activity, like presidential inaugurations and the State of the Union address.

Before entering the event area, all attendees will go through an airport-like security screening and pass through a magnetometer, officials said. IDs will not be required.

Visitors are allowed to bring either one clear bag, or one small clutch or purse, according to Freedom 250. Items such as aerosols, including bug spray and sunscreen, are prohibited, as well as drink tumblers, coolers, Frisbees, balls, backpacks and folding chairs, among other things, according to Freedom 250. Blankets - and one bottle of water per person - are permitted.

Yeah, that is very wrong. The Constitution puts *Congress* in control of immigration. That the president can do a lot in the field is because Congress passed laws granting those powers. /there is *some* inherent executive authority to exclude, but that authority is largely regulated by Congress.

Louisiana has more ICE lockups than almost any other state. Now as a surge in habeas petitions overloads courts, people are held “unfathomably” long without recourse.
