Put me down as Resident Evil agnostic. A fine adaptation of the franchise and notable step forward in translating the immersive experience of gaming to film. Too bad Cregger left the joke machine on the fritz.

FUN EASTER EGG: Black Hole from Christopher Nolan's "Interstellar" makes a cameo in "Oppenheimer". While not appearing directly onscreen, it is mentioned in a conversation about physics. This suggests "Oppenheimer" and "Interstellar" likely take place in the same Cinematic Universe.

ICYMI: The Black Casebook is back and bigger than ever, baby. We're examining the good, the bad, and the ugly of Frank Miller and The Dark Knight Returns, a document of the '80s that still resonates profoundly with the way life feels in 2026.
Newspaper headline featuring NYC subway shooter Bernhard Goetz: "I'M SORRY, BUT IT HAD TO BE DONE': Death Wish suspect talks; fights return to New York" During his 1980 presidential campaign, Ronald Reagan makes a campaign stop in the burned-out ruins of the South Bronx, with "DECAY" prominently graffitied next to him.Bruce Wayne wanders the streets of Gotham next to barefoot, wretched doomsayers hollering on the corner."Welcome to HELL," the Dark Knight says as he ambushes one of Two-Face's goons from below, breaking through the floorboards to drag the gunman into the darkness.
