Badenoch's plan to scrap building standards to make homes cheap to heat while energy prices spike through the roof is what Sir Humphrey used to call "courageous." Scrapping the Climate Change Act just after the hottest summer on record and as a massive El Nino event brews up is even worse.

Reform's boast they "didn't take any money" from people they describe as "Climate Activists" bent on "entrapping" them is incredibly thin. You'd think they'd have clocked such people were never actually going to give it to them. The question they should be asked is did they ever refuse it?

Now is a good time to remind those worried about overheated homes, closed schools, boiling hospitals and infrastructure that is can barely cope that voting for people who have spent their lives denying our climate is changing won't lead to a Government who will deal with those problems.

Shame David Attenborough's birthday fell so close to polling day. It makes the many fulsome tributes to his wisdom feel a bit hollow when masses of Brits are voting for parties who would scrap climate targets and burn more fossil fuels.

The Hackney Mayor vote wasn't even particularly close. Huge swing too as in 2023, Labour took 50% of the vote to the Green's 24% The Council elections are going to be interesting.
Results showing Green Party won 47% of the vote compared to Labour's 35%

I don't mourn Ian Huntley at all but a prison service that fails to stop people being murdered in their care should pay for a funeral at least. Subject to investigation, some in the prison service paying with their jobs seems reasonable too. Sorry change.org but that petition really depresses me.

According to @kemibadenochmp.bsky.social "It's not 11-year-old boys who are committing violence against women and girls" so we needn't teach them about relationships. As it's not 11-year-old boys who design cars, perform surgery or direct films, can we stop teaching them maths/science/arts too?

If Keir Starmer won't deliver more trainee doctor posts unless the BMA back down, he is holding patients on long waiting lists to ransom to win his dispute. Government can clearly afford extra training places or they wouldn't have offered them. It would be contemptible to withdraw them.

Remarkable how many news outlets are reporting Johnathan Gullis was an Education Minister without saying he was appointed by Liz Truss, and so in post for even less time than she was PM. Not even Boris Johnson had wanted Gullis as a minister and Sunak sacked him as soon as he replaced Truss.
