It doesn't help that I haven't really had friends IRL for the past 7 years and I don't know what to do about it at this point

Blocking hatemongers is one thing but this trend of using mass block lists to avoid hearing from people who might or might not hold points of view you expect to disagree with is unhealthy imo and hurts the platform. Bluesky was better off with folks like Margaret Mitchell and Giada Pistilli on it.

Margaret Mitchell, who was famously fired from Google after co-authoring the seminal "Stochastic Parrots" paper, has been posting on X lately because she is caught up in mass blocklists of AI industry people on Bluesky, making the platform borderline unusable for her.

Here she's on X quote-tweeting fellow AI ethics researcher Giada Pistilli, who is in the same boat.

Pistilli said: I really wanted 🦋 to work, but it looks like I’m on the worst block lists out there. Oh, well.

Mitchell said: I think what many 🦋 Bsky users may be overlooking is that they’re blocking people in positions of influence *who want to listen to them*. As someone influentialish in AI ethics, it’s important for me to know what creators, critics, Luddites, etc., are thinking and seeing.

Mitchell added in a second post: I’m an advocate in tech directly aligned with a lot of their values in the very spaces where decisions that affect them are being made. I need the stats, articles, hot takes…all the deets they can give me so I can be prepared when talking to regulators, academics, techies, etc

Pokemon Legends ZA has the most promising development for a modern game in the series, and I've spent the last few months on a video dissecting why. 🟣 The Savior of Modern Pokémon 🟣⬇️

I made a mod to force the game to make the rival a girl based on the preload dump and someone with an early copy managed to confirm it works 🥳

Why dit it correct LLM to llama

110

Martmists @martmists.com · 05/10/2025

The only task I've found Llama to be actually decent at is to port snippets of C code that I just don't understand like solvable minesweeper board generators or single-solution sudoku generators or just any NP problem really

110

Martmists @martmists.com · 05/10/2025

The problem is that the only decent code is the easy code and the crap code takes several months to implement

It doesn't feel like any characters are simply plot devices or gimmicks, they all feel like they actually have their own goals, targets, thoughts, and stories. While team spica generally helps out rather than do their own stuff in S2, the way the new teams interact completely makes up for it.

010

Martmists @martmists.com · 24/07/2025

It's been so long since a show had me feeling sad, frustrated, even crying at times, and the one to do it is a show about horse racing?? The story is great, the characters feel real, and you can feel their emotions, the VAs and writers did a stellar job bringing them all to life.
