While out I popped into a book shop on a whim to browse the manga and almost yelled when I saw @nieki_z's manga on the shelf! I've begged to see 'She is Rokurokubi' published in English in the past, but I'm so happy to have found another Zui Nieki manga! I bought it immediately!

Got home from seeing 40th Anniversary release of Transformers The Movie. First time seeing it on a big screen and it was fabulous to watch something so familiar from watching it on TV via VHS/DVD countless times, now at a completely different scale.

I've been playing with the Metroid Ravenous logo generator. (pixelframe.design/metroid-rave...) They're mostly food related since Samus is a hungry gal.

The the space of an hour I came up with the concept of a video game town sage with the name "Elda", and a villain called "Na'Zi" and I think I should be in charge of all video game character naming duties from now on.

A thing I miss about the Wii U - when a PS3/360 game that was a few years old got ported, you'd get a bunch of fun additions like Nintendo exclusive costumes (Bayonetta for example), but now current gen games are getting ported to Switch 2 and you just get 'game but on Switch 2'.

"It's for new audiences, not our generation" I think it's for both since they mention "nostalgia" in the Direct but kids deserve something new too? Actually? "Complain all you want but it's still gonna sell a bazillion copies" Yeah! I know! That's why they're doing it! That's why it's depressing!

Sheik no longer being masculine-androgynous honestly might be the lowkey biggest disappointment. Robbing new players of such a huge misdirect and revelation feels mean.

Funnily enough, I alread said everything I feel about the Ocarina of Time remake three months ago when the first teaser was revealed. LOL Everything shown today was like a checklist of everything I was concerned about to greater extremes.

We can deride the aesthetic choices as much as we like, but not even a cohesive and appealing art style gets away from the fact that this appears to just be the exact same game with very minor changes and I'm so utterly disappointed that so much effort has been put into this and not something new.

I do have more nuenced thoughts and feelings that I'd like to share here too: So much of my issue with Link's redesign is that it would be SO much better without the leather-looking body armour and needlessly elaborate detailing on literally EVERYTHING! It's just TEXTURE TEXTURE TEXTURE TEXTURE!!

Renders of Link from the new Ocarina of Time remake.

I wasn't able to livetweet my Zelda Direct reactions here at the time so here's a summary of how it went down over here: - Orchestral intro was very cool. - Miyamoto jumpscare! He suddenly gives a shit about stories now apparently. - Movie news! Oh wow, it's nothing!

The lack of reading comprehension amongst Gridman fans needs to be studied.

Screenshot from Twitter.
Original tweet from Ultraman-Ultimo;
"Gridman really predicted the dangers of A/I didn't it? All the way back in 1993 no less."
Attatched are screenshots of a scene from Denkou Chojin Gridman in which Takeshi is preparing a monster attack to punish a girl for not accepting his love letter.

I reapond via Quote Retweet;
"No it didn't???
If anything Gridman predicted the dangers of misogynistic incels."

A bit specific but GQuuuuuuX's length was perfedt for the chaotic whirlwind story they were going for. Your assertion that it needed to be longer isn't an indication of the show having bad pacing, it's confirmation that the characters and setting were so good that you desire more of them.

it's actually hard to form words to how viscerally upsetting it is to be told the best thing I can do is create in silence to no audience. I already do that. making art is already an isolating and deafeningly silent activity. the act of sharing your art is interacting and connecting with the world.

“Be Strong enough to be gentle.” Peter Cullen tells the story of how his brother inspired the voice he would use to play Optimus Prime. It’s a simple yet poignant quote that sums up why Optimus and Peter are so beloved. Til All Are One. 💔

I've always held this belief regarding Peter Cullen being the beating heart of Optimus Prime. Now that he's actually gone, I'm just sad that this will never happen. I just don't want another 40 years of people doing bad Peter Cullen impressions (or worse, AI abominations).

Screenshot of a tweet of mine from 23rd July 2022
Quote:
"I'm still of the opinion that should Peter Cullen no longer ever be able to voice him again they should retire Optimus Prime as the default Autobot leader character and expand the TF universe beyond the same three characters, but that's never going to happen. 😕"

Shit. This is the one. Not often a famous person passes away and it affects me, but this is the one. His mantra of "Be strong enough to be gentle" has always been what made his performance as Optimus Prime so special, timeless and inimitable. Peter Cullen, you will be missed.
