1/6 Sam Cooke’s 1964 anthem "A Change Is Gonna Come" is a profound piece of public sociology on structural segregation. Decades later, its critique remains painfully relevant to contemporary migration politics. 🎵 youtube.com/watch?v=wEBl... 👇

In Mary Poppins, "Feed the Birds" isn't a simple lullaby—it’s a sociological prophecy. The 1964 film foresaw our reality: technocratic supremacy & systemic dehumanization. Mary's song prepares the children for the clash between human truth & institutional violence. 🧵👇 (1/3)

In my opinion Habermas’s legacy remains deeply relevant not because reason has triumphed, but because abandoning the struggle for a principled public sphere leaves democratic life exposed to cynicism, domination and dehumanisation.

1/2 A very timely piece by Alex Ross on #Habermas. What remains powerful in Habermas is not a naïve faith in #consensus, but the insistence that #democracy depends on the fragile conditions of public reasoning, mutual recognition and shared institutions. www.newyorker.com/magazine/202...
