Our sampling campaign tracking the activity of #mammals and bats using #garden #ponds is nearly at an end! In this project, we set up an #emergence trap, a #camera trap, and a #bat detector at 80 garden ponds in #Budapest and surrounding areas. Details can be found in the photos and comments.

Nachtrag 1: Hier 👇 n Beispiel, wie easy sone abflusslosen Senken hydrologisch restauriert werden können, indem man Rohrleitungen deaktiviert usw. Ergebnis: Verlust von einigen % Ackerfläche, dafür aber wieder offene Kleingewässer und halt safe deutlich mehr #Grundwasserneubildung. /13/

Grundsätzlich sollte bei der Verknüpfung von Fernerkundungsdaten – einschließlich 3D-Modellen – mit dem Einsatz von KI-Methoden (Deep Learning) in Kombination mit Felddaten, z. B. aus dem Grundwassermessnetz, einem effizienten Monitoring von Kleingewässern künftig nichts im Wege stehen.

Das Verständnis über CO₂-Prozesse von #Kleingewässern ist ein nicht zu unterschätzendes Thema in der CO₂-Bilanzierung. Es gibt bereits einige Studien aus unterschiedlichen Ländern. Eine Studie aus Südfinnland zeigt: Kleine, temporäre Standgewässer (#ponds) sind für die Gewichtszunahme von Entenküken wichtiger als permanente Seen – wegen ihres höheren Vorkommens an Makroinvertebraten. Damit sind sie zumindest in borealen Gebieten bedeutende Aufzuchtshabitate.
