I think you just get a lot more for your money now for the same money There were so many 'big' games up to the PS4/Xbox One era could be completed in an afternoon The only good thing is back then you could atleast sell the game back for an ok-ish price

A reminder that game prices haven't really changed much in 30 years. I still have my N64 with a lot of games we got from Dixons and they were £59.99. THIRTY YEARS AGO! But then people cry oh they should be cheaper! How? A lot are cheaper now, and you get a lot more game for your money.. #gaming

Before I got into gamedev I used to enjoy JackFrags videos but I've peaked behind the curtain, I've seen how much they ask for, sat in meetings with people like them etc, it's all a facade Sometimes it's organic but generally money is exchanging hands, lots of it

These content creators all get paid by the studio. JackFrags, Westie, Stodeh etc to name a few charge a few thousand pounds just to do a basic 10 minute video on your game The EXP videos as another example are significantly more than that, I'm talking 10K plus for a shorter video upto about 50k!

Works out at £330 more a month after tax Vs somebody who stacks shelves in a supermarket Got to bare in mind most gamedev jobs in the UK don't pay anywhere near US salaries, most I've been on at Senior Artist level is £55K for a British company, always earnt more working for non-UK companies

Unsurprising, I know a lot of people who have worked at Bulkhead over the years or are still there. The amount of shit they've done that is unhinged you wouldn't believe. Have a look at their Glassdoor for a laugh (it's not a laugh)
