The surname Duffy is entered with "All years" selected from census options 1821, 1901, 1911 and 1926. A summary reads: 33,183 records in 5,225 townlands of 20 or more people, across 32 counties. A map of Ireland shows townland outlines shaded in four blues by the share of residents carrying the name (under 5%, 5 to 15%, 15 to 30%, and 30% or more). The densest clusters are in Mayo in the west, the Monaghan and Louth area along the east-central border, and Donegal in the north, with scattered townlands elsewhere and few in the south. Below the map, a county list ranks Mayo (5,482 records), Monaghan (4,734), Donegal (4,468), Dublin (3,430) and Louth (1,817). A "Strongest townlands" table lists Inishard Island, Mayo at 17 of 23 residents (74%), Carrickloughan, Louth at 31 of 46 (67%), and Corlat, Monaghan at 65 of 98 (66%). A sidebar gives research tips: start with the darkest townlands, compare census years, check neighbouring townlands, and a note that a shared place is not proof of kinship.
