Happy Birthday! And of course:
Jon Nettles as Chief Inspector Barnaby with one of his many faithful sidekicks, Jason Hughes as DS Ben Jones. As police detectives, they both wear non-descript dark grey suits, boring ties and have quizzical, concerned looks on their faces.

Binge-watched the Obi Wan Kenobi series over the last few days... (setting myself up for an impromptu viewing of Ep IV this evening.) Struck by a much under-rated example of the (very, very) many pairings in the galaxy far, far away: Tala and NED-B. Rather wonderful, in a very understated way.
A still from the penultimate episode of the Obi Wan Kenobi series, showing Indira Varma as 'Tala' and Dustin Ceithamer as the loader-droid 'NED-B', at the point of their tragic but heroic demise on Jabiin.

I hear you! But, in the galaxy far far away, I am much more partial to Cad Bane... that voice, that hat! 😁 Outside the galaxy far far away? Gotta be Dick Dastardly... Hilarious 🤣
Dick Dastardly, the cartoon villain from Whacky Races. He is twirling his thin, pencil moustache, sporting an evil grin and his usual purple and red costume, including striped flying hat and goggles.

All hail Colonel Stanislav Petrov: (And would AI manage to take this decision?)
"He went on to insist he was just doing his duty.

That may well be true, but it is also slightly misleading. On that September morning Lieutenant Colonel Stanislav Petrov stopped and thought, rather than blindly followed orders. In doing so he did indeed do his duty, but it was not just to his country — it was to the human race.

And for that he deserves to be remembered."

We seem to have a new resident. Mr Fox sleeps on the gabion wall most days now... he's totally oblivious to the comings and goings of the rest of us.

I often wish I controlled the giant Monty Python cartoon foot... I would use it, liberally, on those cars that have massive bass speakers filling the boot that make buildings shake as they drive past... *Splat*

It is a good look! (Hope all goes OK and all not too ghastly 😘)
Sir Pat Stew as Jean Luc Picard during his time assimilated into the Borg as Locutus of Borg. He was a black rubber uniform with black biomechanic enhancements wrapped around his face and skull. I'd love to do this look for Hallowe'en one year...

A rather wonderfully designed new 'eco-house', built low into the old Victorian walled kitchen garden of the local stately pile. Have watched it being built, nearly finished...

The water trucks that keep the dust down at Burning Man:
At the Burning Man event in the Nevada desert salt flats, a water truck sprays water on the 'streets' to keep the dust down... event participants follow in various states of undress to take advantage of the free cold shower...
It's a delightful way to cool off and get clean.

Oh dear... very sorry to hear this news. Adieu David Hockney 😢 An incredible body of work as his legacy, however.
The David Hockney painting 'Portrait of Sir David Webster'. An elegant gentleman in a bottle green suit, red tie and blue pocket square sits on a cantilever chair designed by Mies van der Rohe in front of an Altra coffee table designed by Zeev Aram on which stands a ceramic vase of magenta and white variegated tulips. It is a wonderful portrait.

One for #PrivateEye 's "Separated At Birth" page...
Two pictures side by side, one of the demagogue Nigel Farage and one of the Demagorgon from 'Stranger Things'. In the manner of Private Eye's Separated At Birth column, the names 'Demagogue' and 'Demagorgon' are switched... Both have wide open, salivating maws, out of which spew the foulest, most vitriolic streams of hatred...
Well, I thought it was amusing, at least...

Bizarrely, there is no Google Streetview at that end of Kingsway, but this would be the only way to get into the tunnel the wrong way from the north... (without having gone the wrong way on the wrong side of the road for quite a bit of Kingsway...)

It's the Strand Underpass, one way north from Waterloo Bridge to Kingsway, following the line of Aldwych. The Waymo car is facing south, meaning it has gone the wrong way down the whole one-lane, one-way tunnel... Incredibly hard to get into from the north...
