This applique banner was one of the most impressive things at No Kings today in Petaluma, CA.
Applique Banner, red and gold fabric letters reading NO King on a textured cream colored background. The O in NO has a crown outlined in stitching.More detail of the NO, with the dotted beige crown and the red and gold print letters.

A pair of cheerful images this morning.
Against a pale green blurred background, a raven perches on a brown fence post. Its body faces the camera and its head is curved to viewer's left. The ruffling of feathers on breast and head can be seen. Very glossy.A green-backed hummingbird hovers, drinking from a long, tubular purple flower, one of a cluster of them. Lavender colored flowers show lower left, in-focus leaves surround the bird and the blossom cluster.

Noyo Harbor, Fort Bragg, CA.
A small fishing boat, in the center of the frame, heads to the right. the water around it ripples, creating a blurry reflection of the highway bridge, and a crisper reflection of the boat itself. A wake fans out to the left.

Beaky Raven.
A ruffled raven sits on a white fence post, a walnut fragment under one talon. The crow looks to the right. The eye can be seen and the beak is thick, long with a noticeable hook. Picnic tables in background.

Another Mendocino memory; the mouth of Big River.
Against a blue and white sky (thin clouds) three poles in the beach stand march away from the viewer, left to right. Beyond the farthest you can see light surf as Big River reaches the ocean, and beyond that, two tree-covered hills.

Great blue heron, male, in mating plumage. Yesterday, Bodega Bay, California.
A male great blue heron perches in the canopy of a tree. The bird is in mating plumage, and a frilly white feather "beard" dangles from its throat. Who says beards aren't sexy?

I took this last year at the Mendocino, CA Botanical Garden. At first I thought I was tracking a slow hummingbird! No such oxymoron; it's a sphinx moth.
A sphinx moth rests on a spike of blue lupin, its wings open. The wings have black and white bands, with red and black on the back or bottom. The body is thick and the moth is about the size of a hummingbird. Blurred in background, a solid wooden fence and green shrubbery.

The installation is called Habitat, representing community as the heart of things. Solar panels collect energy to power the lights which come on after sunset. Sebastopol, CA.
An installation shaped like a human heart stands in an empty lot directly in front of a redwood tree. The body of the heart is made up of tiny houses in rusted metal, with chrome tubes representing veins and arteries. The bottom of the sculpture glows with red light from within. The same sculpture, in close up. It is lit from within by purple light. The chrome veins form a contrast. A light pole, power pole and the tree are visible to the right. It's twilight.Even closer shot; lit with yellow. Branches of the redwood are visible top right.

Close up; a long-tailed north American weasel peers out of a gopher hole. The white patch between its eyes is a rough rectangle. Grass pokes up around the hole.Middle distance; against a green stretch of grass, a weasel leaps, stretched out. It's facing away from the camera.
