Did the #SNLUK writing team work hard on that Fouracres Weekend Update moment? Did they have a touch of fourth wall in with the cartographer? Has Fouracres just gone off script and turned it up to eleven because live is live? "It doesn't matter, Nicola Coughlan. None of this is real!"
Nicola Coughlin and George Fouracres stare each other down to see who can sing the most provocative Irish Rebel song on UK TV.

A ★★★½ review of Dune (2021)
What is the point of adaptation? Watching Dune pt 1 while still being midway through the book I’m very close to the material, and it’s both remarkably faithful and visually utterly spectacular. There ...

Good luck! That's not what Hank had, but I can tell you that he is SO much happier since the surgery, and things that we thought were just Hank being Hank (constant miaowing, basically) are gone. He must have been in pain for so long. I hope for all the best for Garfy!

This has got really out of hand. Someone who I went to drama school with and have not seen for 8 years just messaged me congratulating my mum on her Nobel peace prize and saying thank you for all she's doing.

Such great songs, and perfectly pitched as songs an actual, very good school band in the 80s might do.

It's really worth reading the novel as it's a different, far more complex beast. The film simplifies it through necessity, but characters like Binoche's are far more central in the book, and the love story sucked down into the dark morass of war.

It does get a lot better - there's a real depth and maturity to it by the end - but if you found the first ep actually unbearable I suspect you might only appreciate it but not actually enjoy it, if you see what I mean

Just finished Break Clause, and I'm biased, because Lara Ricote is a friend of mine, but not so biased that I didn't think the pilot stunk - I tell you this so you will trust me - because I loved it and if there isn't a second series I will SPIT NAILS.

Honestly, Jane, as someone with a lifelong phobia of vomiting, which is really a phobia of your own body, which you cannot rest from for even a moment, even when you are asleep, I genuinely do find this a profound insight. And I'm sorry you are scared.

I have another Brian Blessed story, which is second hand, but… a friend of mine worked on Chitty Chitty Bang Bang at the Palladium, in which BB played Baron Bomburst. Apparently, he kept buying extra props from Hamleys on his way in to the theatre…

How a black dog can banish The Black Dog. After my wife Colette died in 2020 a dog (Nico) was why I got out of bed in the morning, got dressed, left the house, met other people, established a routine (dogs love a routine), and found a way to be in the moment (dogs love that too). Great piece.

I can't handle reading off anything but paper or e-paper, so an iPad is out, but now that I have a husband sleeping next to me I need the backlight on an e-reader to read at night, and I'm just as happy as with a book now. Again, did not anticipate this development!
