When witches are cackling and telling you “Fire burn and cauldron bubble,” take a step back. Breathe. Those are normal things for fire and cauldrons to do. They’re trying to mess with you.

Seeing more and more LinkedIn job postings looking for volunteer artists. A lot people looking for free animation and BGs for their indie projects. When did this become ok? Expecting random people to make your thing for free is so weird. Figure out your financing bro

What's Opera, Doc? looks fantastic. Chuck Jones credited that to his artist Maurice Noble. Noble experimented with this cartoon and took big risks. "You will never do anything interesting if you don’t take chances," he argued. We explore what he did: animationobsessive.substack.com/p/why-whats-...

Early Cartoon Network was hugely inspired by the UPA animator Bobe Cannon. Artists like Genndy Tartakovsky loved his style of movement, studied it and put it in their work. We're looking into Cannon's methods and how they shaped these shows: animationobsessive.substack.com/p/the-animat...

I hate that storyboards have become expected to be final clean animation poses with breakdowns in perfect perspective. this is not how it was supposed to be. let the animators animate! (I say as both a boarder and an animator)

Came across this fantastic little sequence by Maurice Noble (of Looney Tunes background art fame), apparently done for a commercial or something like that. Gorgeous stuff.

A sequence in "Cartoon Modern" style.

1.) A knight is swinging a flail next to his squire who is carrying assorted weapons like a golf caddie would carry clubs.

2.) A knight is swinging the aforementioned flail again, only this time at a wingless dragon.

3.) A gauntleted hand sticking a dagger in the ground.
