Maria Farrell @mariafarrell.eurosky.social · 06/10/2026At a tiny Kerry festival last month we met a friend and daughter. They said before the Bird family-run amusements at the Rose of Tralee open each year, they invite the SEN school nearby to enjoy them first. They slow down rides, quiet the music, and Mr & Mrs Bird welcome each child to the fair. 0192
Maria Farrell @mariafarrell.eurosky.social · 16/09/2026oh god I just posted something even grumpier than this on my own, I'll now be uploading pictures and writing alt tags all bloody day! 040
Maria Farrell @mariafarrell.eurosky.social · 14/09/2026happy to oblige! this one's from a couple of days ago but the mood is consistent. (though today's gentle snores are sweet) 130
Maria Farrell @mariafarrell.eurosky.social · 10/09/2026Well my river is just down the field so I won't name it, but this morning the holly trees were dangling over a water course now in full spate. Dozens of wild bees guzzled the holly flowers' nectar. A reminder that flowers in the bridge seasons are often to be found in trees. 0140
Maria Farrell @mariafarrell.eurosky.social · 07/09/2026Far be it from me to perpetuate national stereotypes HOWEVER this is what a proper selection of potatoes looks like. Taken in a small Kerry supermarket with 2 checkouts. I counted 16 different types, sizes, and brands of spud. Which is about right. 1311618
Maria Farrell @mariafarrell.eurosky.social · 03/09/2026anyway you might think you're busy but Milo was out protecting a very tall and seemingly healthy ash tree in our field. no die-back to be seen on it, but lots nearby so we're crossing fingers and paws this one has some genetic resistance to the virus. 4362
Maria Farrell @mariafarrell.eurosky.social · 28/08/2026Started watching RTE's gorgeously filmed An Irish Atlantic Rainforest, about @irishrainforest.bsky.social As is customary in Kerry an emotionally needy collie dog was provided for each member of the audience (there's a whole other dog and three humans out of shot). www.rte.ie/player/serie... 0150
Maria Farrell @mariafarrell.eurosky.social · 25/08/2026Is it just me or does Chip have the expression and bearing of a Flemish merchant being painted with his rich array of possessions and obedient little wife? His bowl of oranges glimpsed in the portrait background is such a flex. 2301
Maria Farrell @mariafarrell.eurosky.social · 20/08/2026Milo's an old boy now and has, maybe, one good leg out of four, but he loves a beach walk, a session of prolonged barking at his swimming humans, and then back to work guarding the towels and togs as they dry at home on the gate. 6331
Maria Farrell @mariafarrell.eurosky.social · 11/08/2026the fellas rather liked the weekend and request it be resumed immediately. 1293
Maria Farrell @mariafarrell.eurosky.social · 06/08/2026Face of a little guy who JUST DISCOVERED blackberries grow on the side of the road and can be plucked by careful, neckering little lips. 215216
Maria Farrell @mariafarrell.eurosky.social · 23/07/2026Far be it from me to perpetuate rustic stereotypes but now we're on the correct island for a spell Milo and Chip are unabashed hayseeds 1141
Maria Farrell @mariafarrell.eurosky.social · 17/07/2026the lads seem moderately pleased to be on the correct island at last. 0210
Maria Farrell @mariafarrell.eurosky.social · 05/07/2026Spent Pride in Piccadilly painting faces with my lovely assistant Milo Moments I'm only processing now; a teenager and their traditional Nigerian mum shyly asking about a NB stripe, 2 Chinese students amazed by the freedoms. A trans girl delighted I'd nearly run out of their colours A gift of a day 3422
Maria Farrell @mariafarrell.eurosky.social · 30/06/2026In more cheerful Piccadilly Circus-related news, Odo the baby-hating church dog was this weekend merely glowering and growling at the (actually very sweet) nearby toddler. His owner says Odo can't tell whether babies are human or animal. TBF they make weird noises and can be quite stinky. 2180
Maria Farrell @mariafarrell.eurosky.social · 30/06/2026Mullvad has been advertising on a dedicated structure in the middle of London's Piccadilly Circus for weeks, now. The Orwell reference hits different when you know the VPN's co-founder is funding the Swedish far-right to "re-migrate" anyone with brown skin. An Orwellian phrase if ever there was. 41710
Maria Farrell @mariafarrell.eurosky.social · 29/06/2026Milo is chilling under this year's enormous rhubarb (fallow year for lots of lovely crumbles in 2027) after a Gail's visit where we sat beside @kardyology.bsky.social who recognised him! we reminisced about our mutual @youngvulgarian.marieleconte.com and guilt-free café days at the old place 5401
Maria Farrell @mariafarrell.eurosky.social · 24/06/2026though Milo is elderly in dog years, he has, as they say, still got it. 5614
Maria Farrell @mariafarrell.eurosky.social · 24/06/2026Milo continues to believe he can style this out. I have to whoosh and shut him into our one semi-cool room as the day goes on He grumbles that his ancestors on the Siberian steppe tolerated temperatures in the high thirties. I counter that he is 12.5 yrs old; 80+ in human years. And so it goes on. 9893
Maria Farrell @mariafarrell.eurosky.social · 23/06/2026Garden is looking the best it will for the rest of the year, following last night's drenching. NGL I'm definitely a 'more is more' kind of gardener NB I cut back a veeeery aggressive clematis this year and the artichoke it had been, well, choking, has roared back with no less than SIX flower heads. 2180
Maria Farrell @mariafarrell.eurosky.social · 19/06/2026Went up north yesterday for a swim in Hampstead Heath pond and spotted this epic trolling from Camden Council at the bottom of Highgate West Hill where vast houses in the tens of millions, the odd one derelict, hold Putin's allies' £££ Great to see a council devoted to such prominent signage... 0142
Maria Farrell @mariafarrell.eurosky.social · 17/06/2026This scruffy little dauphin sends you love and also his sincere hope that there is no bath in his immediate future. (it's from a couple of weeks ago. there was.) 060
Maria Farrell @mariafarrell.eurosky.social · 16/06/2026Milo is pretty indifferent to Chip. But Chip, who had a tough start in life, has carefully studied Milo for 7 months and just recently learned - sob - how to play with toys. He never had any before. Of course, being a dog, the very next thing he learnt was how to steal Milo's ones. 2322
Maria Farrell @mariafarrell.eurosky.social · 09/06/2026gah! don't know if a photo will exactly help with either, but wishing you the energy of this very happy bumble bee I saw at the chelsea garden show. 010
Maria Farrell @mariafarrell.eurosky.social · 06/06/2026Favourite dog pic this week was Milo who hid under E's desk the moment he heard the bath taps go on. He innocently conveys 'I've been here all day and I <just> woke up'. A special, top-level samoyed talent. He really, really needed a good bath and brush, and now looks like a little dauphin. 0371
Maria Farrell @mariafarrell.eurosky.social · 01/06/2026Chip & Milo found the weekend quite adequate, really, now it's a bit cooler and their garden is enjoyable once again. 1151
Maria Farrell @mariafarrell.eurosky.social · 22/05/2026Palantir's Mosley showing what nasty pieces of work he and his sinister employer truly are. I recently made this clipping from Francis Spufford's marvellous new novel, Nonesuch, on fighting fascists in WWII London - clearly an evergreen topic. Hoped for a reason to use it. Now here it is! 0264
Maria Farrell @mariafarrell.eurosky.social · 18/05/2026Church dog yesterday. Glorious handlebar moustache (which I now know is called a 'Hungarian Handlebar', the biggest kind), and movie star eye lashes. Wildly intolerant of babies. Willing to be fed treats and minded while his humans circulate afterwards. V. fixed views. (possible Presbyterian) 6432
Maria Farrell @mariafarrell.eurosky.social · 14/05/2026Chip's world is getting wider. He's part of a pack with a kind human leader, is learning to get in and out of <other people's> car (Classic rescue dog error - we thought as he would for us it was transferrable. It was not!), and has met a man (he has big fears) he wants cuddles from. #dogsofbluesky 4341
Maria Farrell @mariafarrell.eurosky.social · 01/05/2026As Chip traversed the country - big hurray for the UK's hard won public paths system and the right to roam! - Milo and I pursued more sedate goals such as our first iced coffee in the park of 2026. Life goals! 0192
Maria Farrell @mariafarrell.eurosky.social · 01/05/2026Well this little chap has up and walked (scampered!) the literal width of England - from Bowness to Wall's End. Didn't disgrace himself at any of the B&Bs he and his human stayed at. Enjoyed all the smells and gallops to be had along Hadrian's Wall. Last seen sipping a pint of Newcastle Brown Ale. 6662
Maria Farrell @mariafarrell.eurosky.social · 24/04/2026the boys enjoyed their weekend In The Country, though Milo finds most walks a bit long, and Chip now wants a cushion-lined Aga compartment for himself thank you very much. for a chap who spent his early years blanket-less in a cowshed, his standard of living expectations have risen sharply! 3270
Maria Farrell @mariafarrell.eurosky.social · 06/04/2026Boys passed an excellent Easter, albeit Milo now in a long-needed bath immediately necessitated by Chip having such an exciting park play with a pomeranian-huskey - the only cross to match him, chase for chase - that he peed all over Milo's head. No, I don't get the physics of that either. 3180
Maria Farrell @mariafarrell.eurosky.social · 06/04/2026Oh! As the long slow weeks of (giving up Bsky for) Lent chugged by, I longed to share my ABSOLUTE FAVOURITE BOOK SO FAR THIS YEAR, @jamesbluecat.bsky.social's Pagans Read it slowly to savour each detail of this alternative history. It all rang so deeply true. And a fantastic tale. Roll on Book 2. 3174
Maria Farrell @mariafarrell.eurosky.social · 06/04/2026Well, a good Easter weekend. Reading the first of @pnh.nielsenhayden.com's incomparable Starlight anthologies. Just. so. many. bangers. and the wagging tail of a delighted cockapoo as the congregation belted out the Hallelujah chorus of Handel's Messiah. Also there was roast lamb and mah jong. 060
Maria Farrell @mariafarrell.eurosky.social · 17/02/2026I'm giving up bsky for Lent. bloody hell. worst thing since ditching chocolate for 40 days as a schoolgirl. Hopefully these mucky pups will enjoy fewer requests to Stop Right Now So I Can Photo You Horrifying to think it'll be just me and my thoughts for the duration. and books, I suppose. fuck. 6340
Maria Farrell @mariafarrell.eurosky.social · 16/02/2026well, Monday and all that, but in happier news Milo found his platonically ideal Stick in the park this weekend and chewed it to a tiny stub. 2480
Maria Farrell @mariafarrell.eurosky.social · 09/02/2026For a guy who spent 98% of his life in a shed Chip really knows his angles and how to work a camera 5735
Maria Farrell @mariafarrell.eurosky.social · 07/02/2026anyway look at these two goofy buys enjoying the Spring crocuses in our park that appeared overnight this week. 5735
Maria Farrell @mariafarrell.eurosky.social · 05/02/2026This, friends, is Chip. He recently joined our pack after being rehomed from a farm. Not just a change in home and people for him, but also career. He trained in sheep dog trials but .. wasn't very good at it. So now his fulltime job is walks, cuddles, and laying his whole body across my lap. 11652
Maria Farrell @mariafarrell.eurosky.social · 02/02/2026it's well past time I introduced the newest member of my pack herewith a teaser trailer for Chip, a Very Good (and patient) Boy 3302
Maria Farrell @mariafarrell.eurosky.social · 27/01/2026"10 penseurs pour sortir du chaos" in Futu&r magazine, France. An honour to be in such company (hi, @ingridrobeyns.bsky.social !) But also, what a perfect, poignant, and necessary visual metaphor for this moment Kintsugi Earth 3101
Maria Farrell @mariafarrell.eurosky.social · 22/01/2026tbf the south west coast of Ireland was looking especially lovely today (but all I can think of is Tubes, plays, cafes. and as soon as I'm there all I will think of is the sea. oh humans) 2280
Maria Farrell @mariafarrell.eurosky.social · 22/01/2026I've never appreciated or longed more for city life - oh January - but Milo is in his element. Cold water, clean air, long walks. 4302
Maria Farrell @mariafarrell.eurosky.social · 17/01/2026anyway, Milo enjoyed his Saturday - painkillers with breakfast (he's a senior boy of almost 12 now...) and a run on the beach with these marvellous collie-adjacent pals who ran circles around him as if he were a sheep (which, fair). 4391
Maria Farrell @mariafarrell.eurosky.social · 04/01/2026I'm minding this rehomed young collie dog - his future career as yet unknown, but sheep trials were very definitely not for him. He crossed the stream at Derrynane strand in two magnificent skimming leaps yesterday. 1643662
Maria Farrell @mariafarrell.eurosky.social · 22/12/2025Milo wishes all his friends a lovely Christmas week, especially those mustering the will to send out the last few emails which for some unfeasibly lame reason refuse to write themselves 8673
