If only we had clean, renewable energy and were not beholden to a dirty, expensive, dangerous commodity that pollutes our environment and is the source of most of our geopolitical woes.
We are facing an energy crisis.
Britain is the worst exposed in
Europe with only 2 days gas
supply stored.
If only we had our own gas to
exploit.
Or our own oil.
Or our own coal....

Fantastic council by-election result. Labour gain from Reform, with increased vote share for Labour. This is an area where Reform have been in charge for 10 months and it's seeing votes switching from Reform to Labour. Exactly as we said would happen when people experienced Reform!

I see Nigel "always cheated never defeated" Farage is now trying to stop non UK citizens from voting. This would mean my Irish wife would have no right to vote despite giving 20 years of hard work and taxes to the UK state. And where does it stop - the unemployed/benefit claimants will be next

Joyful to see Goodwin and Farage having a huge wettie and rightwing media scrabbling around for credibility in the rubble of their cocky predictions and polling. You don’t have this in the bag.We voted for change in 2024. That never meant hate-fuelled populism. It meant hope. You don’t give us that.

“Rarely has a British political party unveiled a programme that combines cruelty with impracticality on such an extravagant scale.” Chilling on Reform’s increasingly confident fascism. High on viciousness and greed. Very low on wisdom. A ruinous combination. www.independent.co.uk/voices/zia-y...
Photo of Yusuf at a lectern saying “shadow Home Secretary” (Wot?)

Reform's plan for a 'British ICE' combines cruelty with stupidityProject forward to 2036 under a majority Reform government and the picture darkens further. Britain would be smaller, older and whiter; more isolated from Europe; paradoxically, more vulnerable to foreign interterence and less able to fund its own defence.
The welfare state would shrink to a skeleton. Charity would fill the gaps.
Flags would proliferate; rights would not. The police and courts would be politicised. The BBC could disappear.
The NHS would survive only as a minimal safety net. Protections against discrimination would erode - you might indeed be sacked for being disabled.
Migrants and even their British-born children could find their rights curtailed unless they were deemed to
"contribute" sufficiently. Meanwhile, the wealthiest would enjoy a generous, low-tax regime.
