Today was the second time I have been told by a doctor that I don’t look like someone who has scleroderma. I hope medical professionals start realizing that you can’t always tell someone has an illness just by looking at them.

I walked in and insisted I smelled gas. Mom said she had been telling my dad as much but he said the air was just musty. Turns out they had several leaks in the pipe to their newly installed gas clothing dryer.

I insisted the electrician stop and husband call the gas company. There was a pipe into the water heater leaking gas. If we had to rely on men's sense of smell, I don't think the human race would make it very far. I say this because I had the same thing happen at my parents' place.

We’re getting a house for my son and husband went over to let the electrician in. I went over to pick something up, and I smelled gas as soon as I walked in. I asked both husband and electrician if they smelled gas. Both said they smelled something but wasn’t sure what it was.

I don’t know what was going on with the kid, but my older kid is on the spectrum, and at four years old, it took five nurses to hold him down for vaccines or blood draws. I imagine that the kid’s parents are more upset than everyone else and are probably at their wits’ end.

So what is the difference between a province and a territory? In the US, our territories don’t get congressional representation (which is completely unfair).

Mare Serenitatis @mareserenitatis.bsky.social · 03/08/2026

Ok Canadian friends: I have a geography question. I was taught that Canada has 13 provinces, but now I am learning that the three territories don’t count as provinces. Does that mean they don’t get parliamentary representation? I am very confused about what this means.

But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.” I really get the feeling these people have never actually read a Bible…

My response would be to loudly quote Matthew 6:5-6: “And when you pray, do not be like the hypocrites, for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the street corners to be seen by others. Truly I tell you, they have received their reward in full.

That’s what I do. And when I am doing close-up work (stitching), I still try to make it a “glasses day” (or do it at night). I have to hold it close to my face. (But as I said, I am near sighted.). I have really come to appreciate the glasses app for seeing little tiny things.

The Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) put out a little infographic for International Moon Day. It compares the diameter of Australia to the diameter of the Moon. This always throws me because in my mind, the Moon is actually bigger!

Infographic showing drawings of Australia and the Moon side by side. Their respective diameters are annotated (4000 km vs 3400km). The population of Australia is stated as 28M people while it is 0 people o the Moon.

I somehow get the sense contacts are more uncomfortable if you’re far-sighted. Us near-sighted folk greatly appreciate having peripheral vision again. I have astigmatism in one eye, but not bad enough to require correction. You’ll probably get used to them the more you use them

Yeah. Being back in MN for the summer has been leaving me second guessing the move. I keep thinking about setting up a yarn shop up here, and I can’t decide if I have lost my mind or if it’s really the right thing to do. Even husband said he likes being back here better.

I have been struggling with the same. I finally found one I liked but the near vision sucked. I am now trying some that have good distance vision in my dominant eye and better close up in the other. It’s very weird.

for the last one. Now we need to pull out our beautiful cedars because they’re recommending we have no trees within 30 ft of the building. It really breaks my heart. We’re also looking at metal siding and roofing. But my understanding is that it won’t help if the trees are close enough.

So this really sucks. We bought a cabin several years ago in northern Minnesota. Part of the reason we loved it was because it was surrounded by these beautiful cedar trees. We have had two fires in the past two years that could have come into our area. We were actually in the evacuation zone
