Marco Leo @marcoleogamedev.bsky.social · 10/09/2026So, I’m currently looking for 𝗽𝗲𝗼𝗽𝗹𝗲 who would like to 𝗽𝗹𝗮𝘆𝘁𝗲𝘀𝘁 the level and give me some feedback! And don’t worry, it should take less than 5 minutes to play through. 100
Marco Leo @marcoleogamedev.bsky.social · 10/09/2026It’s still very much an early version, but I’ve reached the point where I think the best way to improve it is to 𝗹𝗲𝘁 𝗼𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝗽𝗲𝗼𝗽𝗹𝗲 𝗽𝗹𝗮𝘆 𝗶𝘁 and see how they approach the puzzles. 👀 100
Marco Leo @marcoleogamedev.bsky.social · 10/09/2026The goal this time was to move from testing the mechanics individually to actually 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗯𝗶𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗺 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗼 𝗮 𝗽𝗹𝗮𝘆𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗹𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹, while figuring out how to properly introduce the mechanics and build puzzles around them. 🎮 100

Marco Leo @marcoleogamedev.bsky.social · 11/04/2026I’m preparing an in-depth insight about the entire development process, which will be available soon on my portfolio! A gameplay video is also available: 🎥https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fLXmUTJ5PTU 000
Marco Leo @marcoleogamedev.bsky.social · 11/04/2026It feels a bit strange to step away from something that has been such a big part of my life for so long, but I am proud of what I learned during the process. Now I’m ready to move on and start the next project, bringing all those lessons with me! #IndieGame 101
Marco Leo @marcoleogamedev.bsky.social · 11/04/2026This project took a huge amount of time and energy from my free time, but it also taught me a lot about level design, iteration and playtesting. 100
Marco Leo @marcoleogamedev.bsky.social · 11/04/2026Hey everyone! 👋🏻 Quick final update on my third person action level! 🎮🗺️ The level is finally available for everyone. Marco Leo @marcoleogamedev.bsky.social · 03/12/2025I am also looking for more people interested in 𝗽𝗹𝗮𝘆𝘁𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 the level. If you would like to try it and share your thoughts, feel free to send me a DM! 🫂 020
Marco Leo @marcoleogamedev.bsky.social · 03/12/2025All of this has been done in my free time, and these iteration passes took a lot of hours, but they are necessary to reach the quality bar I had in mind for this level. Next I will 𝗳𝗶𝗻𝗲 𝘁𝘂𝗻𝗲 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗯𝗮𝘁 𝗽𝗮𝗰𝗶𝗻𝗴 and 𝗱𝗶𝗳𝗳𝗶𝗰𝘂𝗹𝘁𝘆, and run another feedback round focused on readability and vertical flow. 🎯 110
Marco Leo @marcoleogamedev.bsky.social · 03/12/2025I’m refocusing on verticality. I revisited my references and replayed the main inspirations to study how they use height, sightlines and traversal for gameplay. I’m reworking the spaces so every platform, ledge and drop serves a clear combat or exploration role, not just visual flair. ⛰️ 100
Marco Leo @marcoleogamedev.bsky.social · 03/12/2025Over the last few weeks I have been heavily 𝗶𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 the combat arenas, going through several passes on encounter layout, cover placement and enemy routes. Playtest feedback has been incredibly helpful and really showed me 𝗵𝗼𝘄 𝗶𝗺𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝘁𝗿𝘂𝗲 𝗶𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗶𝘀, not just small tweaks. 🔁 100
Marco Leo @marcoleogamedev.bsky.social · 03/12/2025Hey everyone! 👋🏻 Quick update on my 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗿𝗱 𝗽𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗼𝗻 𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗹𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹! 🎮🗺️ #LevelDesign #Blocktober #Blocktober2025 #UnrealEngine #Blockout #Blockvember #Level #GameDesign #Gamedev #Indie #Ue5 194
Marco Leo @marcoleogamedev.bsky.social · 31/10/2025Still iterating and refining, especially in the arenas, but it’s been incredibly helpful to see how everything connects! Would love to hear what you think! 🙌 010
Marco Leo @marcoleogamedev.bsky.social · 31/10/2025Finally, I’m also showing part of the paper design phase, along with an early Lego prototype I built to visualize the level in a hands-on way before moving into Unreal. 🗒️🧱 Seeing it like this first really helped me understand verticality and spatial layout before building in the engine. 110
Marco Leo @marcoleogamedev.bsky.social · 31/10/2025⚔️ Final combat arena, where players can approach the encounter in three different ways: stealth, direct combat, or a more platforming-oriented route. 110
Marco Leo @marcoleogamedev.bsky.social · 31/10/2025First, here’s a top-down view of the map to show the overall structure and main player paths. 🗺️ Then, I’ve included two breakdown shots: 🎯 Final objective, visible early as the first thing the player notices when moving through the level, with careful framing and composition. 110
Marco Leo @marcoleogamedev.bsky.social · 31/10/2025Hey everyone! 👋 Here’s a small #Blocktober update! 🚧 This time, I wanted to show a more complete breakdown of my level and share some behind-the-scenes of the process. 🧭🎮 #LevelDesign, #Blocktober, #Blocktober2025, #UnrealEngine, #Blockout, #Level, #GameDesign, #Gamedev, #Indie, #Ue5 1144
Reposted by Marco LeoRémi Dumas @asperche.bsky.social · 29/10/2025The last playtests show that my #blocktober level has guidance issues. To fix it, I used the enemies' movements, lights, and framing. I'm looking forward to seeing if it's enough. #leveldesign #gamedev 094

Marco Leo @marcoleogamedev.bsky.social · 27/10/2025In the next few weeks, I’ll focus on: 🚗 Completing the prototype of the final car chase sequence! ⚔️ Revisiting combat arenas to improve pacing. 🛠️ Polishing the entire level and preparing it for the final phase. What do you think? I’d love to hear your thoughts and feedback! 🫂 100
Marco Leo @marcoleogamedev.bsky.social · 27/10/2025One of the biggest challenges has been managing space and verticality. It’s something I’ve always wanted to improve, and working on this project has really helped me understand how to make exploration feel more dynamic and readable. Still plenty to refine, but I’m happy with the progress so far! 🏗️ 110
Marco Leo @marcoleogamedev.bsky.social · 27/10/2025I started by defining the core pillars, gathering references to set the right tone, and creating a paper design to plan the structure. Then I prototyped key gameplay metrics, like jump distances and movement, and built the first blockout, where the level began to take shape. 🧠🧱 100
Marco Leo @marcoleogamedev.bsky.social · 27/10/2025Hey everyone! 👋 I’d love to share the progress I’ve made over the past few weeks for this #Blocktober. 🚧 I’ve been working on a third-person action level inspired by Uncharted and Tomb Raider, focusing on platforming and level scripting. 🧭🎮 (Continue in the comments...) 171
