Short but important thread that anyone still in panic mode should probably read. TL;DR: Northern California judge still has to approve this. And if nothing else, Paramount and WB will at least operate separately for 5 years. (plenty of time for things to fall apart)

I just sent @newyorkstateag.bsky.social feedback as well. You can, too! ag.ny.gov/contact-ag

News reports this morning say you've joined California AG Rob Bonata in cutting a deal allowing the Parmount/Warner Brothers merger. I'm emailing to request that you cancel this deal, which will result in a far right media conglomeration along with almost certainly thousands of layoffs. This is anti-democratic and anti-worker - it only benefits billionaires. Shame on you. Please cancel the deal.

Trans rights should not be a controversial topic. Trans rights are human rights, and in a sensible world that would be the end of it. Tragically, we don't live in a sensible world. We live in a hellhole full of stupid backwards bigots.

Twitch's "Allow your channel content to train generative AI models" setting is here and on by default. Go turn that shit off, streamer!! The toggle is under your Settings, then 'Security and Privacy'

Twitch now uses your channel to train generative AI by default. You can opt out of some training here: www.twitch.tv/settings/sec...

Training for Generative AI

Allow your channel content to train generative AI content models at Amazon. Turning this off does not opt you out of Twitch and Amazon using your channel content for other purposes described in the Twitch Privacy Notice, including using AI-supported Twitch features that benefit the community by facilitating streamer growth and monetization (such as real-time sponsorship campaign assistance), viewer discovery (such as recommendations), and community safety (such as AutoMod). This is a grim moment for the gaming community. Sony PlayStation announced today that it will cease all physical games production in 2028. This will essentially erase legal game preservation and ownership on their platform. The ESA lied to lawmakers to bring down the POG Act ...

0% okay with this. It has already been a known (and observed) practice for over a decade that digital copies of games can be revoked at the company’s whim. We literally JUST saw Sony remove over 500 movies from the accounts of people who already purchased them, w/ no recourse. Pure profit chasing.
