Everyone's talking about Dolly and her good works and her kindness and the books and the donations and solidarity, all rightfully so... But OMG that VOICE. All the other stuff, yes, but I feel a profound sadness knowing there will never be anyone who sings so perfectly again.

@kashana.blacksky.app Hi I just wanted to say I finished The Payback and it was lovely. I especially loved the way the story underwrote Jada's own journey to self-respect and fearlessness. Thank you for a great read!

As a man, being emotionally in-tune, authentic, and able to self-regulate is an absolute cheat code for dating. After my divorce I was STUNNED at how easy dating on apps came to me compared to others, and it was because I was, you know, an honest person willing to share of myself.

It is now *canon* in Star Trek that First Contact happens because socialists believe so much in their responsibility to community, the future, and the mission of galactic quadrant collectivity that they take a capitalist project and make it something peaceful, hopeful, and multigeneration facing

I miss the halcyon days when Disneyland was the Orange County Goth Teen Convention Center where all the goths would hang with their Disney-branded black goth clothing and ironic Mickey ears, one of them in a wheelchair to get them all past the line.

On a trip to Europe in the 80's my dad took me to a military museum that had a bunch of WWII things including a Nazi room and I thought the fanfare music that played in that room was cool. I don't remember the piece but it felt coded as "evil empire"-ish.

Green flags and red flags are innocuous things that hint at the emotional truth. "Kindness" is not a green flag, "He belittles you" is not a red flag. Those are actual good/bad behaviors, the flags should be things you wouldn't normally peg as indicators of the behaviors.

There is a similar wave in cinema of people treating every movie like some sort of usual suspects puzzle that needs to be explained, and that there is a right answer to what things mean. It's infuriating, and it's come for literature now.

Be your authentic self at all times, even if it's cringe, even if it leads to a negative outcome. Your authenticity is the most valuable thing you have, don't give it up for anyone or anything. Polonius was right: this above all - to thine own self be true.
