Diese 5,5 cm lange Gewandspange aus Buntmetall wurde bei Altenzaun (Stendal) gefunden. Stilisierte Greifvogelköpfe zieren die Seiten. Dieser Spangentyp mit rechteckigem Kopf und dem Mittelbügel mit Scheibe stammt aus Gotland. Datiert wird sie in die Zeit um 600. © LDA Sachsen-Anhalt, J. Lipták
Die Oberseite einer Gewandspange aus Bundmetall. Verziert ist sie durch seitlich angebrachte Vogelköpfe, sowie mehreren Kreisen, einer mittig sitzenden Scheibe und einer etwas kleineren Scheibe am unteren Ende der Spange.

I am very happy to share our new paper on the genetics of some of the first modern humans who ever lived in Europe! We sequenced nuclear DNA from 13 specimens from Ranis in Germany, and found that they belonged to at least 6 individuals. www.nature.com/articles/s41... (1/n)

New studies out yesterday show when modern humans last mated w/Neanderthals, but it's the details in this paper by @arevsumer.bsky.social @kaypruefer.bsky.social & co. that got me–like a mother and daughter found together after 45K years, or their close relative identified in a distant Czech cave.

1893 wurde beim Bau einer Scheune in Schneidlingen (Salzlandkreis) ein goldener Armring gefunden. Er ist fein verziert und besitzt einen maximalen Innendurchmesser von 8,15 Zentimeter. Das 103,1g schwere Schmuckstück wird in das 9. bis 8. Jh. v. Chr. datiert. ⚱️ © LDA Sachsen-Anhalt, J. Lipták.
Goldfarbener Armring vor schwarzem Hintergrund. Der Ring an einer Seite offen. Zwischen den Ende befindet sich ein Leerraum. Die Enden sind im Querschnitt rund und ihr Durchmesser wird zum Ringkörper immer kleiner. Die Ende sind mit konzentrischen, linienartigen Mustern verziert. Der Ring hat einen U-förmigen Querschnitt.
