Oh my gosh, what a book. When I first started reading Christopher Bollen's HAVOC, I thought someone foisted this Bertie-Wooster-like delight onto me as a thriller. But then it became Jeeves meets American Psycho, and I truly became smitten. I absolutely LOVE this deliciously dark, dark book.

This is a beautiful little book. Originally called Lo Stralisco; one of the most popular children's books in Italy. There aren't strict kids' categories in Italy, but this is a lovely story for all ages; about a painter hired to decorate the interior walls of a sick child's room. GLOWRUSHES.

For the BlueSky book people out there: WHALEFALL by Daniel Kraus is absolutely masterful storytelling. One hell of a great book. Outstanding in every way: thrilling, emotional, perplexing, wondrous, and terrifying. (I think this is marketed for adults, but it is pure YA. YA librarians: READ THIS.)

I like it here and I don’t think a mega corp Twitter clone can kill spaces like these. There is a high level of original thought and engagement, people care about each other and maintain a strong space minimizing bad faith, harassment, and disinfo, which lets people be themselves & build community
