The Oxus Temple is a sanctuary of Ancient Bactria and helps the research on the relations between indigenous and Greek cultures. In 2011, we were commissioned by the Eurasia Department of the German Archaeological Institute to reconstruct the temple. 🔗 www.artefacts-berlin.de/portfolio-it...

Timing of UK oil refinery closures has been very poorly judged, in my view. Should have kept capacity close to demand, and taken refineries out of commission only as alternative energy supply increased. Instead, they have front-run the switch leaving the UK exposed.

File release is important. But for me, a bit different in kind. Looking for Trump to look his Hormuz defeat in the eye and end his cavalier war, whatever the damage, because the current status quo is unsustainable, including for non-US countries. He should have thought before acting, no?

Trump demands Europe release diesel reserves. Once again, he is passing the buck. The US should release all of its diesel reserves first because it caused this problem and it must take responsibility for what it has done. Ukraine can't fix this problem. Nor can Europe as a whole. Eat the pie.

Not sure the US will go nuclear on Toronto or Vancouver. The nuclear breeze is not America's friend! Maybe the US is sorta locked into a general defence of North America that even a dimwit like Trump can see means an inevitable nuclear umbrella over the continent.

A Norwegian etymology! Previously possibly young pig or whale island, rather than seal. Or even simply "islands". Locals like their Orkney singular, but the islands were known as the Orcades (pl) to the Romans long before the Vikings came. Live and let live.

For sure! I doubt he was hired to make the British Library not a library. So I think things are safe in that way. But for instance, he might expand it out of London so that being British means buildings around Britain, not just in London.

I wonder if the job entails much book touching. Guessing but I expect the chief executive does a lot of fundraising, financial decision-making, strategy, organisational structuring, tech infrastructure decisions and so on, leaving librarians to do their librariany work.
