Oh, how I hope people are losing their elitist minds over this

The geometric orca scarf that was in the Vamos Sounders Sonidero collection a couple of weeks was also excellent. But I have no need for (more) scarves anymore, so I didn't buy one. But it was so good, I thought.

I think that's true for the vast majority of them, if/when the mood or reason strikes to play something atypical. Unless it's something super mainstream "that ppl w/ bad taste in music like". Then one unnamed DJ notwithstanding, it's usually the listeners IMO who tend to be more close-minded. IMO.

To all the high-minded elitists on reddit griping about the non"KEXP" songs getting played during the "vote for your favorite 90s songs" countdown...

Can't pull back market share from DC's absolute success with a limited series. We coulda still had Hickman and Checchetto on UltSM. Instead we get Midnight. 🤷‍♂️

While the comics content was diluted the 1 yr I attended RCCC, I did enjoy the con. I'm sad to see it lose what independence it still had in the face of the con industry being otherwise owned by corporate giants that are far more interested in parting fans from their $ than celebrating comics & art.

Same, same. I'd really like for this event to succeed and grow. I'd backed the (unsuccessful) Kickstarter campaign to try supporting it. I'm hoping I can get there after my midday commitments are complete. 🤞

Well deserved, and congratulations! I'm very happy for you, Kevin!

That Wilson/Milgrom cover is gorgeous! 🤩

All legit reasons. Plus: fall break. Teachers get some time off too, right. And Doc's Comics is definitely doing some teaching. ;) No one's pushing you to ship content but that other Kevin in the mirror. Take some time off to recharge. <3

Both? See where this one goes, maybe consider it an opportunity for other changes?. And also recreate to try matching your original vision. Time and interests permitting.

Ah, yeah, I was referring to the WIPs. 👍 I have a pair of full-size, hardcover artist editions that are stored upright in their original packaging. Like Kevin alluded to previously, these things are an extra challenge to store. Storing them flat would take up a lot of extra real estate.

Brian Schmetzer up after the game. Schmetzer told a story of an ECS drummer who gives him his drum sticks after games, but Schmetzer didn’t take them after the RSL loss. He made sure to take them tonight, and will hold onto them to keep the magic going.

I hadn't heard the spine concern until now. And now I'm worried since I store mine upright. 😬 I store mine in 1) art size bags and boards from Comic Pro Line, and 2) keep them in Priority Mail boxes w/ one end open and filling the extra space with bubble mailers so they can stay properly upright.

A photograph of the inside of a cabinet filled with boxes of comics books. One box is a short box on its end, and filled with treasury-size comics. The other three boxes are Priority Mail boxes that are labeled, "Skinbreaker + misc", "DC Limited Collectors Edition", and "DC WIP". On a lower shelf is a cut-off view of a row of trade paperback comics from Image, Marvel, Valiant, etc.

Those are gorgeous! 🤩 A quick google search just now supports Quietly did work traditionally with pencils on art board. But then his artwork was scanned and "inked" digitally, which is what's included in the WIP edition. I'd have loved to see the original, unaltered pencils from issue #1.

All Star Superman was a bit of a let down. It looked so clean I'm assuming Quietly was working digitally for his original pencils+inks. The others have been outstanding IMO. I hope DC continues with these.

I didn't care much for American Vampire, or Dark Nights Metal since I had no prior attachment to the originals. The art was great to take in, I was just uninterested in those stories.

Manuch @manuch.bsky.social · 02/10/2026

DC has done a total of six of these W.I.P. editions so far, that I know of: • Absolute Batman #1 • All Star Superman #1 • American Vampire #1 • Dark Nights Metal #1 • Supergirl Woman of Tomorrow #1 • Batman TDKR #1

The ridiculous shipping path of an eBay purchase that I naively assumed would be easy-ish between Mission, BC and Seattle, WA. Aka: how to spend 5300 miles in transit to traverse just 100 miles of geographic distance. 🫠

A screenshot of Google Maps zoomed in to show the measured distance between Mission, BC and Seattle, WA at 106.29 miles.

A screenshot from Google Maps zoomed out to show the entirety of the 48 contiguous United States and most of Canada. Google Maps has a marked travel route connecting from Mission, BC to Toronto, ON, to Seattle, WA. A travel distances of 8502 km (or almost 5300 miles).

Sounds "fun". Once upon a time I used to look forward to integrating every week's new books into my collection. Now, it's almost like doing another chore like the laundry or the dishes. 😅

I had a flimsily packed book last wk w/ only a manila envelope & the lone backing board in the comic bag. Ugh. The estate sales & "picker" sellers on eBay that are the worst w/ this weak packing. I usually try to avoid those sellers, but sometimes FOMO wins out and I take the risk if the $ is low.
