@knifecatte.bsky.social opened for comms recently so I thought now would be a good time to start experimenting with Pokemon types / Delta Species variants of Mantic :3 (this one's poison-type if you couldn't guess) Always loved their style, you should commission this cat :3

... or so I hear. I should probably moderate that statement with the fact that I've never had a proper job lol

That kind of threat is rarely explicit - more likely the boss will just be "surprisingly uncharitable" in a HR review, or not renew their contract, or use a petty exit clause in the contract which they otherwise wouldn't, etc. Ofc it's also very possible they're full of shit and won't do anything.

The concept of vibe-coding an AI algorithm is really funny actually no idea if that was intentional or a genuine conflation of terms but like "Grok, generate me a neural network architecture that does X"

It's not even used on some page about 3D graphics or resolution or something, it's literally just the "chicken fillet roll" page en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chicken... Notice how it's also not the main image, but a separate side-figure, showing the exact same thing, but in a jarringly high-fidelity form

"it happens" being a genuine instance of someone being hostile towards someone purely for being Christian. As Taffy pointed out, if someone says they're "proud to be Christian"/etc without qualifying it, it's reasonable for furries to be unsettled.

Guy in a full fursuit says "Guess who just got kicked out of the bar for, you guessed it, being Christian" idk something tells me you have bigger problems lol Not to say that it's not bad if and when it happens ofc, but doing the "so much for the tolerant left" bit isn't going to help anyone

If people want to freak out on Bsky about every other SpaceX launch too, then I have no problem with that lol

Mantic Cosma @manticcosma.bsky.social · 06/08/2026
So to bring it back to the field analogy, I agree that both of these are bad. The main issue is we already knew SpaceX was launching rockets regularly, so the big story (at least to me) is not "he littered the moon" but "he littered the moon instead of a random field".

Mantic Cosma @manticcosma.bsky.social · 06/08/2026
I should also mention the (for lack of a better term) negative opportunity cost. I tend to expect any SpaceX launch to have big negative externalities, so the news that one of them ended up on the moon doesn't strike me as worse than expected. Maybe that's a difference in our initial framing, idk

Mantic Cosma @manticcosma.bsky.social · 06/08/2026
I guess I can understand this perspective for the very long-term - if we ever start *using* the moon in any serious way, it will probably be very inconvenient that there's now a crashed rocket there. I just think it will be a reeeeally long time until that's a problem, given how big and empty it is.

Also NASA said they can learn from the incident (“better understand artificial impacts and their exploration implications”) I'm not going to argue against anyone's emotional attachment to a celestial body obviously (I like the moon too), but it does seem weird to me that people are this outraged.

Mantic Cosma @manticcosma.bsky.social · 06/08/2026
Honestly, this seems like probably the least bad thing Elon has done. Yeah it's space junk causing damage, and that's arguably bad in itself, but the moon is also doing its job of absorbing impacts for earth. Those parts would have likely ended up in the ocean or atmosphere otherwise. (1/2 probably)

They really need to go back to just saying "Yeah we used AI for the textures". I'm tired of this new trend of going "Our talented team of hard working & skilled individuals lovingly handcrafted our world from the ground up with their own two hands. Also we used AI for textures, modelling & music."

We can't have game dev teams unless they're insanely profitable - fuck the institutional knowledge. It doesn't matter how much people love the IP. But AI? Fuck it, dump infinite money into a pit for some garbage that doesn't turn a profit and everyone increasingly hates, then double down some more.

Fun history facts: One of the 31 people arrested at Stonewall on June 28th 1969 was American folk singer Dave Van Ronk, who was not at the Stonewall Inn at the time and was cis & straight as far as I'm aware. He'd been eating dinner at a nearby restaurant when he noticed a riot happening, said "Well I suppose I should go see what the fuss is about," stepped outside, and immediately started throwing bricks at the cops.

van ronk is quoted as saying about the riots: "as far as I was concerned, anybody who'd stand against the cops was all right with me."

Some amazing quotes in this article about how Ford replaced hundreds of engineers with AI, which broke a bunch of shit causing billions in damage and forcing them to rehire those people. www.the-independent.com/tech/ford-ai...
“Artificial intelligence is a fantastic tool, but it’s only as good as the information you use to train it,” said Charles Poon, Ford’s vice president of vehicle hardware engineering.“Mistakenly, we thought that by just introducing artificial intelligence and ingesting the design requirements that we had, that that would produce a high-quality product.”
