haven't bought or backed a game in months but this looks so unique and well designed. i'm really excited for this one.

i felt the same way. usually i'm begging the candid camera to turn away or have some mercy, but i actually wanted them to do more!

came here to say exactly this; the amount of fake bgg money my posts get feels basically random but if it's like 700 words I'm getting two tops lol

new review! i wrote about @dvcgames.bsky.social's Inkwell, a neat game that left me peckish for more jasper beatrix titles, even if I didn't adore it. it still got me thinking! and it was a pretty chill time! my review: manaworm.com/2026/08/31/i... #boardgames

Inkwell Review: To Paint the Lily
★★★☆☆ —Is this a game about hurrying to deadlines and dipping your pen in another monk’s ink? Or is it about hanging out with your buds and making some cool pictures at leisurely pace?…

i recently played through burnout 3, not golding everything but finishing the prixs at least. i wish I liked it more, but I dunno, it just has a lot of issues. turns out if you gold medal all that other stuff, you come out with a shattering take on nostalgia. this is a great piece

There's some response to this centered on the idea you should only say nice things about games. Here's the thing: lotta folks lament the loss of criticism ATM. But! You don't get to be sad about a lack of critical writing and also believe the first thing as well. You can't have it both ways.

new review! @elizhargrave.bsky.social’s Sanibel is full of love for nature, for a place, for an activity spent with loved ones. It's a good time, albeit one that I wish gave me just a bit more to come back to. #boardgames

Sanibel Review: Around the Lighthouse
★★★☆☆ — Elizabeth Hargrave’s Sanibel is an enchanting love letter to a place, a relaxing tile-placer, and a clever design that ultimately left me wanting it to be more.

i love writing board game criticism, as unrewarding as it can often be (see: this thread and the quoted thread) but yeah 100% this. i don't love buying plastic. i love thinking about games. i get positive feedback from designers et al because I seriously engage with the stuff they did!

played flamecraft (with the dragons and dragons expansion) and cascadia tonight. the flamecraft game ended abruptly when my cat got a clawful of the neoprene mat but otherwise a good time! #boardgames
flamecraft set up on a table. my dragon meeple is at the starter leaf shop, which is full. my partner's meeple is on the shop called Critical Rolls, which is also filled up and enchanted.a cascadia grid in the process of being built. a prairie is coming along and so is the forest. there's a row of three salmon and a pair of bears on the tiles.

i hope all the #boardgames folks at gencon are having a good ol' time. meanwhile, i played a little bit more carnuta with my partner today. it's a neat little Splendor-like with a flippy twist on the economy. my review: manaworm.com/2026/08/01/c...

that's understandable! i played without the"you can't pick up your own bid" rule resulting in people slamming their whole hand for desirable lots.... and also I was dealing one extra card out which I thought went to whoever went last and "got the leftovers". not my best teach lol

besides being boring, I hate how it feeds into the endless cycle of prediction markets and sports gambling. protracted trade talk and rumors and mock trades-- more opportunity for folks to get their bets in.
