We’ve got a new story for you today! “The Embroidered Garden” by @manahil.bsky.social weaves together delicate stitches, vibrant flowers, and the love of family.🧵🌸 Also, don’t miss the gorgeous illustration by Andrea Viñas Notaro! Read it here! ⬇️ augursociety.org/the-embroide...
An orange illustration of two glass bottles that hold magic liquids. There are two yellow stars at the top and one at the bottom left. At the top of the image reads: “The Embroidered Garden” in white text. In the middle of the graphic, there is a quote from the story that reads: “When Baba was working at the port near Thatta, he stayed there for weeks at a time. He was due back in a few weeks, just in time for Cheti Chand, and my tenth birthday, which fell at the midpoint of the forty-day festival. Last year, he arrived late at night, in the last hour before my birthday was over. His present to me was an intricate kameez.” in brown text. Underneath it reads: “Tales & Feathers Magazine — Volume 4” in white text. At the bottom is the link to the story: https://augursociety.org/the-embroidered-garden/

Kind things said about Be Water, out with @anvilpress.bsky.social on June 30, by @manahil.bsky.social. It’s a true privilege to be so seen by a poet I admire very much. Thank you ❤️ #poetrysky #booksky #writingcommunity #poetsofbluesky
Dark blue text in a white box, set on a background of blue waves: “We can’t know what our future holds once we’ve made radical decisions to leave familiar homes and family, but Grace brings us found family, queer joy, and a Nils Frahm record. The poems in Be Water are generous and openhearted, and resist the notion that certainty is the only way to bring comfort and security. The world seems to move at a lightning-fast pace, but spending time with Grace’s poetry brought the feeling of a warm sun on a chilly winter day, a desire to open up my arms to a downpour. — Manahil Bandukwala, author of Heliotropia”

The @sfpoetry.bsky.social’s Rhysling Awards are open! I have two poems eligible - wela’lioq for your kind consideration 💚 The first is from @uncannymagazine.bsky.social:
Screenshot of “The Sea-Witchss at Nightfall” from an uncanny Magazine’s website. The text is as follows:

Clutched in cold hands
and freed to blue topographies
a sacred transmission pulses
as the light lowers
a bright chorus
metewintoq is heard singing
from night’s dark throat—

Each moment is a pearl
spat from shell
gesigawitgl
they flow swiftly—
into our depths,
where we divine the future
far from the closed
mouth of the
nacreous moon—

In the place of low light
wasoqonmeg we keep it lit—
the gleaming lantern
of every eye—
and fish trail stars on silk
as hope sways silver above us
on a sky that toqjua’t sipug
swims upstream.
