two sides of a coin 🛸🛗 (june 2022 / august 2023) #vsynth #iyowa #vocaloid

Fanart of iyowa’s song “take me to an alien”. The drawing is in black & white with a bright blue accent. A girl in a sailor suit with demon horns with the wind whipping up her hair and uniform stands in front of a cityscape; there is a UFO & various objects flying throgh the air. In the distant background, you can see the same girl standing on top of another rooftop, with her back turned to the camera. The title of the song is in a tilted rectangle in the middle of the drawing.

Fanart of iyowa’s song “Leave you on the back of the earth”. The art is mainly in black & white with a harsh red as an accent. A girl in a maid uniform is suspended upside down in an elevator with a sad smile on her face and her hand extended. The same girl is also standing right-side-up outside the elevator, with a more mischievous smile and a single finger held up to her lips. The title of the song is in a box at the bottom of the drawing.

ドーナツホール 2024!!! #vocaloid #hachi #fanart #gumi

A wide spread illustration, with a cream colored top border with the text “DONUT HOLE • HACHI” in orange block letters, and a bottom border with frosted donuts in various stages of consumption. In the middle is a scene, with a large trash heap in the background (colored in a red block), and four women in the foreground. The woman in the far back is Rin, a girl with blonde hair wearing a cyan jacket over a white tank top, who is leaning forward with a shocked/excited expression as she taps on her phone. The second farthest back woman is Miku, a woman with cyan pigtails wearing a dark blue blocky jacket and a white fuzzy tophat, who is yelling excitedly as she looks up at the sky. Second closest to the front is Luka, a surly woman with dark brown/red hair wearing a baseball cap, an olive green jacket, and smoking a cigarette. In the very front is Gumi, with a strange black creature sitting on her shoulder - her expression is MAD as she kicks the screen, cracking the glass in front of her.

Been a year. Time to repost this.

YOUR PORTFOLIO CRIT
THINGS I'D TELL YOU IF I WERE LOOKING AT YOUR WORK IN PERSON
1 Violating the 180 degree rule makes this sequence hard to follow
2 A few more incidental overlaps will make this foreshortening clearer
3 Symmetrical compositions with a character dead center imply an important moment. Don't draw every panel like that?
4 This __ looks kind of fake. Take the time to look at reference instead of just making it up
5 An establishing shot will help the reader understand where this takes place.
6 Find a life-drawing session to attend, or practice from photos online.
7 Show these pages to someone who doesn't know the story and ask them to tell the story back to you.
8. Nudge this part over a bit to eliminate that tangency.
9 You flattened out the depth by rendering the foreground, middle ground, & background with the same values. Create depth and direct the eye by organizing them into overlapping planes of light & dark.
10 there are better ways to use your time than rendering every brick.
11 these characters look like they're floating (or falling). Draw figures and bg from the same eye level.
12 Unless this will be a wordless comic, leave more room for the lettering

Bold red text below the wolf says “the hell I won’t”. The stickers around it say “you say I won’t?”, “you truly think I won’t?”, “fuck you okay”, “not dead, not yet”, “look, I’ll brave anything 24/7”, and “you are 1000% wrong.” There are also stamps of the best omikuji outcome with a smiley face and the worst one with a frowny face.

this afternoon, read CURSE/KISS/CUTE, my illustrated web novel for queers 18+. features include: - hope - flirting - emotions - good emotions - the inherent sexiness of change - vaguely scary deep lore (also sexy) - forcefem (woke) - jokes it's literally free: www.dicot.moe/ckc

“I feel like I get it,” Aster mumbles, staring down at the knotty wooden planks. “I mean, I—I feel like I get it, is all.”

Their heart’s pounding: never has it been so clear that they’ve stuck their head somewhere it doesn’t belong. What are they even trying to say? They get it? Who do they think they are? Do they even know the first thing about this woman?

And yet:

Selené grins. And with one massive dinner plate of a hand descending like an axe from above,

she ruffles the fuck out of Aster’s hair.

“Oh my God. What. What.” She’s blushing, for some reason, trying her best to glare daggers at the angel: butter knives extrude limply instead.

He shrugs, folds his hands behind his head, innocent. “Nothin’...”

“What, motherfucker!”

He casts Aster a conspiratorial glance. “Did it sound like a cute guy?”

Aster has a premonition that the answer may constitute a risk to their health, but they did in fact have this exact thought, so they figure they’re honor-bound to report it. “I mean—he sounded pretty cute, um, in my estimation.”

Lexie’s wolf ears are angled back in annoyance. “That’s literally not what it is.”

“Not what what is?” says Sandy.

“Whatever it is that you think is something!”

“But there is something that it is?”

“Dude, you don’t know what you’re talking about.”

The angel flicks a lock of fluffy hair aside, melodramatic. “You’re right,” he mourns. “An innocent country cherub like myself couldn’t know the first thing about liking cute boys. If only I had a master to teach me the ways...”

“I am going to nail you to the fucking cross,” she groans through gritted teeth. Her face is brick-red.

Obliquely they ask: “You really don’t know nothin’ about liking cute boys?”

Sandy narrowly avoids spraying pink fluid in a fit of laughter. A few heads turn as he kicks up a minor gale flapping his iridescent wings to keep from falling off his stool. He sets his miraculously-unspilled drink back on the counter. “Truth be told, I might know a thing or two,” he chokes, utterly amused.

Aster’s index finger draws cautious little circles on the countertop as they peek at the angel from beneath their baseball cap. “S-so, just so we’re clear...is ‘boys’ the heading you’d file me under?”

“I see we’ve skipped right past ‘cute’,” Sandy notes.

“What about ‘girls’?”

“I wasn’t put on this Earth to render such judgements,” he insists, and pauses to take a sip. “I’m not that kind of angel.”

Aster studies his expression. “Hmmm...?”

“Besides,” he says, “it’s really the less relevant of the two words, here.”

The human sits with that a while.

But their body seems to decide before their brain that they like this answer, and a big silly grin spreads unaccountably on their face as they melt over the countertop again.

Aster smiles blankly, lips still closed around their straw. “Wh...?”

“What,” she challenges, “so ice cream hair doesn’t count, then? Fair enough. Give it another week. Hell, another day. The Phosphor doesn’t exactly post its schedule up on the forum wall for us to read, does it?” She throws down her washcloth. “But let me tell you what I think. I think a monster is a monster.”

“But I’m—”

“No,” she interjects, commanding Aster’s attention with her finger. “I told you this morning, didn’t I? You can’t tell what’s in someone’s heart just by looking. You spend enough time in this town, you’ll meet monsters that look every bit as human as you. It doesn’t matter. Being a monster isn’t about what you change into. It’s about changing, full stop. That’s the rule. And to be clear,” she adds—leaning in—shading Aster’s whole world by her titanic frame—“they made that rule. Not us.”
