The only reason they even seem bizarre is that the generalizations tend to get stuck. And it's not just big-t Trauma from abuse! Even if you had a pretty good childhood, there's still lots of learnings that you inevitably picked up that were true then but aren't as an adult:

tbh I feel like "utterance" is actually sort of the correct word for what we're looking for here. its etymology traces precisely back to "outer", which is basically saying "it's the kind of thought that is released into the world" but it's cumbersome as a word

thanks (@pfrazee.com?) for fixing image pasting! new main thing blocking me from using bsky atm is that my links don't preview properly, which makes me feel sad linking to my blog posts when I click on the "add link card" button I get "failed to fetch link". I'm on Brave, but with shields off.

basically if you think of a tweet as a kind of atomic thought, there are many types of thoughts that relate two+ other thoughts, whether to contrast, or argue, or say "these are the same thought" eg [ how it started | how it's going ]

I was initially not going to suggest that bluesky bother with MultiQT until they fix a bunch of the UI bugs here, but on reflection it seems like it would actually be pretty important to at least stub it out in the protocol before a bunch of people start building new interfaces that don't support it

so I go to @-mention venkat, and I type "@", and he shows up at the top for some reason, then I type "v" and literally now the top result is a handle that doesn't even have a v in it?!?!?!!!1 what on earth filter/sort algo could this possibly be using? @pfrazee.com @support-team.bsky.social
