Mac wore a mesh tank top and now I can't stop drawing him in it.

Dennis is probably saying mean as fuck things to him about his sexuality, but Dennis is just mad because Mac looks like THAT and he's supposed to keep his hands off him.

the scene with Mac in the tank top talking about how he can pull hot women too, while Dennis's face is still stained in smudged mascara because the day's events frustrated him so bad he cried... what if there was catharsis for that scene.

I also drew CharFrank because of ship indoctrination. props to the friends who will propagandize a ship at a high skill level.

the concept is from Flowers for Charlie. in that episode, Charlie's taking pills to make him smarter, and while he's taking a placebo the whole time, he actually thinks he's more intelligent and is being kind of an ass about it. and Frank genuinely thinks that Charlie is getting smarter and leaving him behind. simple solution: fuck him stupid. no thoughts left at all.

more MacDen... I've drawn a lot of them.

specifically inspired by The Gang Group Dates where Dennis is talking about his rescue dog (Mac) which doesn't exist (unless you count Mac) and talking about how, when he cuddles up next to him on the couch, it's almost like the dog (Mac) saved him.

in my mind, there's a direct pathway from that moment to the part in The Gang Dines Out, where Dennis gets on the mic and talks about how he only has the courage to do anything he does because Mac is always gonna be there for him, so he doesn't have to be afraid. and then serenades him with "did you ever know that you're my hero? cus you are the wind beneath my wings"

and maybe it's a coincidence that Dennis also said he was gonna take Mac and Charlie under his wing in the dating episode, to show them how to date women, but like... Mac's been there the whole time, and also, Dennis sucks ass at dating women in that episode (maybe in general if we're really going there) and Mac doesn't like women or want to date them at all...

AND DENNIS BOUGHT A LEASH FOR THE DOG HE DOESN'T HAVE. EXCEPT HE DOES.

the leash is for Mac.

also just... DEE. she looks so good in your style, and I really love the way she looks in season 9/10 so far... I think she's wearing her hair in a really flattering style, and her rat behavior makes it even better... I feel like she's had more of a "fuck it" mentality since The Gang Broke Dee.

been sitting on some art lately... might start unleashing it (haha) on here again someday. for now, here's something really rough.

Charlie is the kind of dog who needs his owner to apply flea and tick medication to his scalp. Mac is the kind of dog that was never trained on the meaning of sit/stay/heel/down boy/etc.

I also love the idea that Dennis thinks Charlie's fleas are disgusting, and Frank thinks MacDen PDA is disgusting. they're both judgmental...

Mac and Dennis feel more like people who have to put in that work. if there's no solution, the stakes are that they could suffer from having lost each other. compared to that, workshopping each other's weird issues is a small price to pay.

basically, Mac and Dennis feel like they're in the kind of relationship that requires them to workshop their collaboration. and I think that's real intimacy. like when siblings notice you have a flaw, they're more likely to tease you about it, or be so used to it that they hardly notice...

that's why I thought of Dee... she and Dennis know each other more plainly. I'd buy them as "drift compatible" more easily. not that they're 100% transparent with each other, but if one were to walk into the other's head, they probably wouldn't be surprised by the rat's nest they'd find in there.

I think there's something very sweet about consistently deciding to interpret someone charitably, even when they're frequently difficult and stand offish. and part of that is also Mac knowing how to fix things that Dennis would otherwise weather, badly.

exactly... like, I think the areas where Mac departs from the reality of Dennis are in maybe laundering Dennis's image to himself sometimes? or like... I guess this is where there isn't really a concrete truth of a person because people are mutable and their qualities are in the eye of the beholder.

I've been trying to teach myself how to color things properly and used this drawing I already had as a kind of test run. I still feel hamstrung in a lot of areas, but I can do it...

this just took way too long... I feel like maybe I'm not starting the process correctly. I don't know how to do that thing where people just pick a couple colors and quickly add sensible looking basic shadows to a sketch... everything's gotta take exactly one billion years. it'd help if I wasn't still doing this on my phone.

I want... selection tool... so bad.

and it's baffling that the child managed to choose the most prickly person they've got, but the kid is a nightmare for anyone else, so they're similar. like crying, screaming, refusing to eat, refusing to sleep... right up until Dennis is involved, and then Dennis is like "wow, babies are easy!"

so the kid is legally Dennis's out of nowhere. kind of an irony, given his reaction to Dee giving birth. but the best part would be Dennis's staunch anti-baby stance crumbling immediately when it becomes clear that he is this kid's favorite. like this infant won't respond positively to anyone else.
