been sitting on some art lately... might start unleashing it (haha) on here again someday. for now, here's something really rough.

Charlie is the kind of dog who needs his owner to apply flea and tick medication to his scalp. Mac is the kind of dog that was never trained on the meaning of sit/stay/heel/down boy/etc.

I also love the idea that Dennis thinks Charlie's fleas are disgusting, and Frank thinks MacDen PDA is disgusting. they're both judgmental...

I've been trying to teach myself how to color things properly and used this drawing I already had as a kind of test run. I still feel hamstrung in a lot of areas, but I can do it...

this just took way too long... I feel like maybe I'm not starting the process correctly. I don't know how to do that thing where people just pick a couple colors and quickly add sensible looking basic shadows to a sketch... everything's gotta take exactly one billion years. it'd help if I wasn't still doing this on my phone.

I want... selection tool... so bad.

for some reason I've held onto this pet concept in the back of my mind that if Dennis were ever going to seriously lock in and parent a kid, he'd actually make a phenomenal girl dad. I'm picturing a scenario where he acquires a baby by accident, sort of like the dumpster baby but more specific?

concept: Dennis being particularly unhinged/destructive/mean on a particular day, then being really cuddly toward Mac, or allowing Mac to be really cuddly toward him at home. and Mac is thinking "not even an hour ago you called the woman at the drive through a whore over diet soda" like Dennis wtf.

I've been adding stuff to these off and on like all week, take them away from me.

the idea was sort of like... Dennis as a sheep in wolves' clothing. he lashes out and behaves harshly, but that's just the front facing side. both are true to his nature in different ways, and whether the fragility or the vitriol wins out depends on who you are to him.

anyway, given Dennis's dueling natures, guess who plays the herding dog in that scenario? Mac is too good to be fooled by Dennis's bravado, but he's sometimes confused about what role Dennis wants from him.

MacDennis concept that I don't have enough knowledge to write yet so I'm just gonna talk about it: Mac and Dennis from the future (they're married after the whole show's worth of figuring out they love each other) get zapped back in time to the beginning of the series and meet their younger selves.

first episode of season 6 right out the gate... Mac fights gay marriage... and the main conflict is that the trans girl Mac was into got bottom surgery and a husband, and he's being really normal about it.

all of this from an episode that began with him trying to use Dennis's gym membership because they already act married anyway...

Dee fighting fire with fire by pointing out that Carmen's husband waited til after the bottom surgery to get with her, which is still a dumb person's understanding of the situation, but it's not "cancel gay marriage to invalidate the union of the trans girl I like and her husband" dumb. and Dennis comes in with the steel chair type take: "he's a man, she's a woman, so it's straight"

"where's our god damn bible?!" is a fun one.

wrapping up season 5 and oh boy... Mac and Charlie are gonna write a movie.

Mac and Charlie trying to tell a story is the most ADD coded thing I've ever seen, and I can say that as an ADD haver myself.

listen. Dennis. I know man. I get it, the stories, they're... they're not good. rest assured though, they will get worse.

"you're abusive, and you smell like warm meat, and I don't want you getting involved and screwing this up for me!" you tell 'em Dee. screw up your own life your own way!

currently having thoughts about Dee Reynolds, and what a contradiction her mind is. she both thinks she's better than everyone else, and also thinks that everyone else sees her as the worst, and it's such a self defeating combination. just like Dennis, I think her mom's standards messed her up.

I'm currently watching The World Series Defense, and Mac's letter to Chase Utley is maybe the cutest thing in the entire universe.

I love Dee's little "oh shit there's stickers!" and Mac's just like "yeah! :D" because of course there's stickers. what kind of letter to Chase Utley doesn't have stickers?

here he is literally mouthing along with the words Dee is reading, without looking at the page. he has this shit memorized. it's too adorable.

I call this little collection Mac/Dennis via tumblr random encounters.

Mac is loyal dog/living weapon (like a badass!) and Dennis is lethal pout/divinity complex (obviously).

this is both of them, but it's like 60/40 with Dennis having left side tendency and Mac having right side tendency. also replace "seconds away from crying" with "also repressing" because good lord it is all these fuckers know.

Mac unfortunately LOVES Dennis insane. they match each other's freak stalemate style. someone help them.

sometimes Mac, but mostly Dennis. the mere concept of him makes me wanna cry, I need Mac to bull-in-a-china-shop his way through some fortress walls before the man dies in there.
