Awful. Shouldn't be surprising to see them toss good people who bust their ass the way you do, but it still is. I'm so sorry. Y'all deserve better than that place.

Well. That's me gone from TheGamer too. Six years of service, and I was at least given the dignity of it ending in a phone call. Right after dealing with weeks of institutionalized misogyny too! Thought things might be getting better So. Uh. Looking for work now I guess!

Cuno – "Cuno's Cuno, pig!" The boy points to his chest with both thumbs.
You – "So you refer to yourself in the third person?"
Cuno – "The fuck are you calling a *third person*?! Cuno's the fucking FIRST person."

Exactly. I am tired of seeing the “I always knew”/“their work was actually bad” takes whenever allegations emerge. Sometimes—often, actually!—bad people find their way into good spaces and make good things. And you’re not better than the folks who were taken advantage of for “always knowing”

Most of you who have worked with me know how hard I try to give homes for pieces that mean a lot to people. How hard we work to make sure we can commission pieces when they've fallen through elsewhere. It's rough out there and we can really only get through this big ol' mess if we help each other <3

the amount of institutional knowledge lost over time in this space is staggering. giants pushed out the door. the only ladders left for people to grab onto are contracted rates that keep going lower, and it's rare to find one that offers any mentorship because, again, the mentors are leaving.

At this point I’m convinced someone at Valve has way too much power and is a big prude. A company this rich should have much better classification processes. A committee, even, that reviews hours of footage or — gasps — plays a game before deciding its fate so definitively.

we should give people time to read their words aloud, take the words they don't like back to workshop them, and then return later with new words. under normal working hours. maybe even a living wage, god forbid.

i have whatever mental illness compels me to occasionally write notes w/ a quill pen bc it makes me feel like an 18th-century poet, but also I think romanticizing the process absolutely helps you reject all this bullshit.

i'm so tired of faster & more being the solution to anything remotely creative. if we've reached a point where humans can't keep up, i'm not sure plagiarism robots that make worse shit faster are the answer. i don't care at what point it helped during the process, the process is part of your art!

Hey fun fact, you can have your writers record VO. Also, you can have your writers literally RP the scenes in a writing with the director present. It's called a table-read in film. It's been done since theater was a thing. But in order for that to exist, you need to give your writers time
