iiinova — where your digital self keeps evolving

My soul dog died a few months ago. I taught myself how to make inlaid rings so I could make myself a memorial ring with a bit of his fur. Goodbye, Fawkes. I’ll see you over the rainbow bridge 😭😭💐

Hello world. This is my puppy Rigel (and Sylvie).

I wrote a blog post about how I built a daily planning agent (called Todaygent, of course) that calls 7 different OAuth resources. I’m so confident in its access controls that I can tell it to delete all my emails or mark all my Linear tasks to Done without any fear that it’ll actually do it.

I cleaned my battlestation. I forgot to take before photos, but it was a disaster zone. Took me about 5 hours to clean it

Sneak peek at another diorama: nature’s revenge. This is actually done, I just have to compile all the clips into one video and do the glamour shots 🙃

Finished my Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 handmade figurine of Monoco! I’d been looking at figures online and then told myself I should stop being lazy and just make my own. I’m glad I did!

I’ve been working on a handmade figure of Monoco for the shelf behind me in my office. This is my progress so far. #expedition33

The Minicorda’s first field test! It was pretty easy to just carry on the plane, and it’s so quiet I have no concerns playing it in the hotel room.

I’ve been teaching myself fingerstyle and classical guitar. I’ve found myself improving by learning the same song multiple times, but in progressively more challenging arrangements. The progression is really interesting to see when learning this way. It’s very rewarding each time I “level up.”

The ultimate blocker to weekend productivity. So glad I cleaned the bathroom before sitting down on the couch. Ambitions of kitchen cleaning and grocery store now delayed indefinitely.

Tomorrow I'll be streaming about evolving #oauth and modern best practices. Join me! The session is remote and free. fusionauth.link/evolving-auth

As much as I appreciate the efficiency and productivity #AI lends us in our daily lives, as an artist and creator, it makes me very sad that I feel the need to explicitly take credit for things I make using my own creativity, skills, experience, and insight.

4/4 They belong to the farm across the street (barn cats — working cats, to control pests). They patrol and explore the neighborhood together as adorable adventurers. We’ll definitely be looking out for them to visit again!

3/4 They were very well cared for, clean, spayed/neutered, and super friendly… we have TONS of stray cats in the country because people dump unwanted cats near farms (we’ve already rescued 3), but these kittens were obviously not strays.

2/4 Two of them were in the tree, and I found one more hiding under the deck.

The kitten saga! 1/4 This weekend I discovered these kittens stuck in a tree:

I have Covid. Every time I’ve had it, it presents mostly the same but with slight differences. This time the fatigue and exhaustion is massive. I made tabouli from the garden (green onions, cucumber, kale, parsley) and it was so tiring I had to lie down for the remainder of the day.

040

Kim Maida @maida.kim · 13/07/2025

I get to code again. I love it. I'm so happy. I missed it so badly and I'm excited to speak about and show the auth architecture demos I've built.

Wow, I hadn't thought about just how validated AI could make me feel. With no rework or optimization done yet after a major feature implementation, this is what GitHub Copilot said when I asked it to evaluate and review my code ☺️

Today I destroyed my original Digital Ocean droplet. It was still on Ubuntu 16. I kept an end-of-life snapshot, but... RIP little droplet. You taught me so much about DevOps, nginx, Linux, SSL, and so much more.

I finally have an excuse to build out an app (and API) for my identity and access management icons (AuthIcons!). I use these constantly in all my talks, videos, etc. I've made almost 130 different icons so far, with many more likely to come.

Sylvie hasn’t had a new lambie in a long time because she eats them. She finally got a new one and, miraculously, it’s been days and it’s still intact! I think she knows if she starts doing that, I’ll take it away. It’s fine if she rips them up but the vet said not to let her eat them.
