I don't think those who truly love the math will let go so quickly. This most definitely hurts the ego of gatekeepers & those who pursue this for prestige (yes, applies to some young researchers too) & honestly, losing them won't be the end of the world IMHO. Of course it's not 0/1 as anything else.

So Australia is now revoking *existing* tourist visas from Iranian nationals, sending a strong message they're not welcome here. This isn't just insane and objectionable, but also shortsighted. I already have been contacted by academics from North America about our int'l image. Not in a good way.
