This moss has some cool sporophytes getting ready to make more moss!

Heard you guys were getting excited about plants. May I offer my seed start setup? The lights and heat mats are on different timers and they both have clear greenhouse style covers. It's currently my proudest plant-based achievement.
A set of plastic garage shelves with the two shelves in the middle holding seed start trays on heat mats with grow lights attached to the undersides of the shelves.

At my in-laws for the holidays and so I get to use my favorite mug from when my MiL was the receptionist at a medical office
Coffee mug divided horizontally by color. The top half is white with black typewriter-style text reading "I keep hitting ESCAPE but I'm still here." The bottom half is purple and has a retro laptop graphic with a green background screen.

Mug balanced on knee for photo purposes.

So I used a recipe that called for 1/2 cup of acorn flour and 2-2 5 cups white/all purpose flour in case the taste was really strong. Bread is slightly sweet, a hint of nuttiness in the aftertaste, and has been described as tasting like the brown bread from Outback Steakhouse

My acorn flour experiment continues! We have the dry acorn mash in jar 1 and jar 2 is post-grinding Now to find a recipe that uses one cup of acorn flour.
Finely chopped acorns in a jar, amount measuring 2 cupsAcorn flour in a glass jar, amount is one cup's worth

Acorn flour progress
Two glass Ball brand jars half full of crushed acorns and full of water. The water in the right side jar is slightly more tan.Two glass Ball brand jars half full of crushed acorns and full of water. Decided to do some old-school science and make acorn flour. The photos have about 2 hours between captures and the acorns I chopped are definitely leaching tannins much faster. It's one thing to read about a process and another to try it out! Hooray Indigenous knowledge! Hooray science!
Two glass mason jars on a wooden table, each half-full of shelled acorns. The jar on the left is mostly halves and quarters and the water is clear. The jar on the right has smaller pieces of acorn and the water is brown and full of tannins. Two glass mason jars on a wooden table, each half-full of shelled acorns. I once kissed a literal dead fish in a church basement with the encouragement of the supervising adult at the time.
A red smiley face ball floating on water with white text overlayed.

Text reads:

"Prompt: tell us a true, one-sentence story about your life that absolutely opens more questions than it answers and demands further context "

If anyone needs a fantasy world map, please enjoy this stain from fry grease on my local paper.
A grease stain on newspaper outlined in pencil framed by a white person's hand on a wooden table. Shape is sort of like a dopey dragon head with a weird stubby mermaid tail and one little nubbin arm.

I could wax poetic about this book for literal paragraphs but if you want to feel like you're in a misty otherworld and watch a story slowly unfold before you, I'd recommend Piranesi by Susanna Clarke.
Black hardcover book depicting a faun playing a sort of pipe instrument while standing on a Grecian column over copper waves. Title is Piranesi, author is Susanna Clarke.

Cannot recommend this series enough. The most gentle and kind graphic novels I have ever read. Beautiful art, and peacefully joyfully queer characters in a cozy world I want to live in. 6/5 stars, just a genuinely lovely series.

When your dog wants to "When Angels Left The Old Country" by @sachalamb.bsky.social but is sadly illiterate so he just boops it with his nose.

I have no idea who determines which paints are 'trending' but I think they might be depressed.

As a recovering Twitter user, I am really enjoying this app for meeting and re-connecting with interesting people and have the added bonus of not being bombarded by intolerant bullshit while I'm just trying to look at cute pictures of people's pets. Dog tax included.

This dog pawed and wiggled his way into my shower and then was confused and upset when he got a good washing. Small Moose has a life of suffering

Small Moose is very upset that we have blocked his secret entrance to the garden and made a valiant attempt to chew the concrete blocks keeping him away from the best spot to dig in the whole yard

As a librarian I get book recommendations and share thoughts about intellectual freedom on social media. My page would be a great educational one if I wasn't also an obsessed goblin child hoarding things that give me serotonin and reposting fan art from OFMD. Also stories about these babies:

Guessing time! This is on the wall of our Midwestern Airbnb. Who knows what it is? Our best guess is a fish.
