What really kills me sometimes is how many people, including law enforcement, in my rural agricultural county spent decades being perfectly OK with illegal immigrants living here because so many farms employed them every year - until Trump start telling people how much they had to hate Mexicans.

This was my first step towards leaving conservatism. Even in my teens, watching the Iran-Contra hearings, then later hearing Limbaugh get rapturous about them, I couldn't understand why "going around Congress" and selling weapons to a country that hated America made Oliver North a "hero".

It used to be that anti-vaxxers would insist to me that the measles vaccine didn't get rid of measles, but "better sanitation". I'd ask them now if suddenly measles cases are rising because we've stopped having "better sanitation", but I haven't heard from these people for awhile.
