This is a film that people will remember 5-10 years from now and will have an insane cult following, entirely for that audio mix

Reflecting on the Resident Evil movie, and a thematic takeaway that's sticking with me with me is that it posits that no matter how insecure and incompetent you feel, you will never be as stupid as the people in power whose real incompetence will fuck up your life way worse than you could yourself.

Never did officially paint this pouncer for my Wolf's Dragoons until tonight

a hand covered with small paint spots holds a plastic miniature that resembles a turtle on chicken legs. The colours used are red and black for major spots, with a good amount of metallic highlights and a blue cockpit

Oh no, it knows exactly what it is. The humor feels like a reverence for, but coming from a different direction of, the batshit insanity that is a standard Resident Evil game

The game referenced there, however, is built around as verifiable information as humanly possible for the project. What is learned there is more accurate to having a science communicator speak on the subject; its largely accurate but loses detail which doesn't lead to the same issue as above

0250

Sean MacLean @macslain.bsky.social · 05/09/2026

A ton of sources are not fully extracted, leading to lots of inaccuracies. Large scale unattributed information is still inaccurate and does not teach actual verifiable knowledge; its no better than someone who "knows enough to get into trouble" and getting starry eyed listening to their garbage

The '63 eruption of Mount Agung in Bali causing the sun in fucking Nigeria to be red?? The attribution is measuring aerosol properties from the simulated volcanic clouds from 3 different volcanic eruptions. This is giving slop

Screen shot from the website anyhumanever. It reads:

Fatoumata was born in 1921 CE, in the countryside near Kano. Her village held about 700 people. She made her home in a mud-and-thatch house. She was the third child of three. Her father died when she was 19, her mother when she was 36. Fatoumata ate mostly millet porridge, cow's milk and soured milk, goat and mutton, and baobab leaf and cowpea, with seasonal dates and desert melon. She was about 161 cm tall (5 ft 3 in).

Marriage came at 18. She was widowed at 56. She had five children, of whom two girls survived past childhood. The farthest she ever travelled was about 350 miles, as far as Maiduguri. She followed Islam and spoke a Chadic language. Her work was that of a market trader. She lived on what a craft or trade brought in.

When she was 42, Agung on Bali erupted far away, and for months afterwards the sunsets ran red. The Sahel drought famine reached her district when she was 47. At 65 she watched Halley's Comet pass. The fighting in Niger broke out when she was 68.

At 68, she died of HIV/AIDS. Her line came to four grandchildren. After her death, she was washed, wrapped in a plain shroud and buried within a day, laid on the right side facing Mecca.
