Mary Ann Cappiello @macappiello.bsky.social · 08/04/2026A question for #medievalsky, @lucyworsley.bsky.social, and @tracyborman.bsky.social: has research dated the garderobes in the White Tower to Henry II’s reign versus Henry I’s? Or are they just known to be 12th century additions? Thanks for any help anyone can offer! 021
Mary Ann Cappiello @macappiello.bsky.social · 03/04/2026Thanks. There is significant pressure for schools to adopt prescribed programs that promise the world. What parents and community members don’t always see is how access to books (read alouds, independent reading, and full texts in an instructional context) grows limited (and then becomes the norm). 151

Mary Ann Cappiello @macappiello.bsky.social · 04/03/2026By way of context, I am writing a young adult biography of Eleanor that will be published in the States in 2027. I love this personal detail, but I can’t use it if I can’t back it up. I’m relying on secondary sources and translated primary sources, leaning in on the most recently published. 100
Mary Ann Cappiello @macappiello.bsky.social · 04/03/2026Richard, thank you for your response! I don’t know, because my lack of Latin prevents me from reading the Pipe Rolls and Alison Weir mentions it in her biography of Eleanor, but without a footnote reference (her use of which is inconsistent). No other biographies mention it. 100
Mary Ann Cappiello @macappiello.bsky.social · 04/03/2026A question for #medievalsky. Is there any extant evidence of what a 12th century English “baby carriage” might look like?
