i'm not particularly religious, but if i believe in any "purpose" for human existence, it's to make art. to express ourselves, to communicate, to innovate, to struggle, to feel. not because it's some task handed down from on high, but purely for its own sake. circumventing that is inhuman, to me.

to be honest the average queer or trans person today is frankly just as casually transmisogynistic as talarico and other democrats so like alas there is little one can do

this kind of has parallels to the whole aliens abducting cows trope and the fixation of tying cattle mutilation to the paranormal now that I think about it

his modus operandi for expanding his knowledge. So I would imagine he's capable of doing it with other animals too, and has an intimate understanding of cow vernacular from taking their brains, probably because they ignored him

if we're to take his "I know everything" literally, he probably does understand how to communicate with them on some level. To preface, I don't know anything about verity, I was forced against my will to watch the music video, but I imagine him taking the guy's brain at the end is

I know, it doesn't matter, it was just an example. My post doesn't have anything to do with the guy getting sucked towards the window, it's about people's reflex to empathize with companies who attempt to exploit that reflex

kill the urge inside yourself to "hand it to" the corporation when they post an opinion you like. Ryanair doesn't hate NFTs, it's scheduling marketing strategy sessions for how best to appeal to you so you gain their goodwill back after they sucked a guy out of a window *towards a window, sorry

it never occurred to me how easily short-form literature can be made comedic, perhaps because most jokes use the same short format. like you can see what for sale: baby shoes, never worn is going for, but it can so easily be made funny in ways it just couldn't if it was longer

r/TwoSentenceHorror would've blown this guy's mind
A story even shorter than the one about the last person in the world and her doorbell appeared in a letter to the editor of the Times Literary Supplement for January 16, 1981. "Unluckily," writes Hugh R. Williams, "I cannot remember the source." He offers it as the briefest ghost tale ever discovered:

Before going to bed one night, a man put his wig on the bedpost. In the morning it had turned white.

Suggestion for an assignment in writing a story: Write another supernatural tale that ends with the revelation of something inexplicable. It need not be so brief, but keep it within two paragraphs.

get a shockingly beautiful landscape shot to transition the two. Gosh does buttercup feel so useless though. I can't rail against an 80's movie in a medieval setting too hard for having a woman-as-reward trope, I think I just had high expectations because all of the other characters were so well

watched The Princess Bride yesterday at a friend's recommendation and it was such a joy, it was kind of like Monty Python but the comedy was balanced more with plot and rich characters. The sets feel miniature like you're watching a stage play, but instead of the curtains closing between scenes you

Thinking about portal 2
GLaDOS is literally the funniest character ever. Her arc culminates in her saying "I hate you so much it's not even with the trouble of killing you, so just fucking LEAVE. And on your way out heres a full choir to sing 'Goodbye My Datling', an Aria I wrote in Italian about how I love you and want you to be safe, which mentions you by name. Don't read into it. Get the fuck out. And here, something to remember me by: a box with a heart on it. Leave." to a wonan who has literally never responded to anything she's ever said

reducing it into bite sized pieces each day was probably quite a big element of this as well, which is something I forgot to mention. I probably stopped at many points where if I had continued to play for many more hours it would have given me a lot of frustration

...getting a little further each time felt really good. After finishing I saw others who seemingly completed the game in less time, express their frustration for the same parts of the game that had brought me so much joy, it was more a difference in the enjoyment of perseverance than a lack of skill

I had similar thoughts after Celeste Farewell, the chapter was a very slow experience for me, I chipped away at it over the course of weeks, sometimes just doing one or two rooms a day, it was a blast. It didn't feel punishing so much as like a gradual mastery over each room and...

one kinda overlooked thing in discussions about video game difficulty is subjective reactions to the same challenge, like sometimes i find a puzzle game really easy and scoff when ppl say it was hard, but then i look closer and see we basically took the same amt of time to beat the game
