Now is the time to make your thing. Stop motion with LEGO, webcomic, walking sim game, weird Halloween costume, backyard water feature, container garden. This is your sign. Make your thing. Stop waiting. Do it.

Man i have one crow who i watched kill and eat a starling in front of his friends. His other hobbies include bullying the seagulls and the resident squirrel i hate. I think he’s protecting a nest.

Was driving behind a large Ford truck on a surface road and watched it veer around every single manhole cover. These were pretty flush to the road, not like they were craters. What do you think that truck does on a farm road, homie?

My inlaws sent bday money a while back & told me to spend it on something i normally wouldnt buy. So i commissioned a blanket & a scarf from my coworkers’s partner who has a loom. Blanket arrived today & wow. This from a digitized Russian pattern from the 1890s. It’s incredible.

Folded woven blanket in a mustard and deep red pattern. The yellow is the dominant color. Undulating shapes with diamond centers., Arrange roughly in bars. Fringe is the deep red color.

I keep thinking about one moment from last night's walk audit. Someone asked how disabled people deal with so much inaccessbility. Without missing a beat, a blind woman said, "I just don't go out. I stay home." When we ignore nondrivers we limit their mobility and cut off access to the world.

And spend thousands on legal fees to do so. Money that was intended for climate change education.

Im always baffled when big companies go after stuff like this. Its almost always some small business or creator who tends to be beloved by a small group of folks. Pulling this kind of thing tends to be terribly bad optics for the company that far extends the circle of influence their target had.

Ma-at @ma-at.bsky.social · 28/05/2026

Yeah i’m mainly talking about the logo as the only leg to stand on legally. Even then it hardly seems worth aiming their legal might at someone doing good. I do think its ludicrous to think that their actions affect their business (but this bad press for them probably will).

The Squamish people of what is now Vancouver were illegally dispossessed of their land 100 years ago. They sued, got the land back, and used their sovereignty to ignore local zoning and build 6,000 new homes over the loud objections of nearby wealthy NIMBYs. Now other tribes are getting in the game.

Also Patagonia is a fucking place. I dont see anything on Patty’s web preferences that mimic the brands logo or anything specific to the brand. If you’re gonna name your company after an actual famous place, can you get mad when someone uses the same name?

Loads of local news sites it’s like a tug-o-war to get through any story, especially if there’s included video content. It’s endless ads, ‘click to read more’ page breaks, ads in the videos, etc.. I usually give up.

Thats tough. I’m team big chop but i get the cultural hesitance. Is it possible to mark the change appropriately? there may not have been immediate personal loss but there is a lot to grieve collectively rn. But maybe it doesnt work that way - no need to elaborate if thats a closed thing.

Would love it more if the leagues didnt force host cities to spent tax $ to upgrade stadiums or lose their teams at a time when cities are in structural deficits and are cutting hours and services on things like libraries and parks.
