I remember a time when "crypto-fascist" used to mean a fascist hiding their bigotry. Now it means a fascist, open about their bigotry, and funded by crypto.

Thanks to a very kind xmas offer, Stuart at @babelcolour.bsky.social took a newly discovered 1906 photo of my gt grandfather in Prestwich Asylum (newly committed) and re-imagined it as if taken by modern photography. Quite the result. Gt grandf was held there 35 years #manchesterhistory #prestwich

Black and white mug shot of 33-year-old man taken in 1906.

(on a personal note it's quite striking how quickly I've gone from "generally a bit of a pinko on defence issues" to "and could I just do a monthly direct debit to BAE Systems, would that help")

So Boris Johnson is going to be in Edinburgh in September? Lying and charging £££ for it. Time for #Edinburgh to do its thing, as it did with Farage.

Never read a word of Robert Burns' poetry? Here's one minute WITH SUBTITLES of the grisly witches' Sabbath from his famous poem Tam O'Shanter, filmed where it was set, in the ruin of Alloway church. #RobertBurns #BurnsNight #haggis #Scotland #Ayrshire youtu.be/cRydI51vt5U

1970s nostalgia? A No. 16 bus pauses at Holy Corner in Edinburgh in 1975. Alas, a random splice throws the focus out halfway through but I repeated the focused section. If you like old films, that is. youtu.be/f1pqsaOHkyI #Scotland #Edinburgh #Bruntsfield #oldfilms #Super8mm

Who remembers Kenneth Roy from the #1970s? At the time a well-known face in #Scotland as copresenter of BBC's #ReportingScotland, later an influential writer & publisher. At 15, I roped him into faking a brief news broadcast for my Super 8mm film. Link to video from 1975: youtu.be/EunD-uzmYwo

What a great idea. Now walking around #York thinking how many Roman/medieval leftovers here could be transformed (from one specific angle, at least). #history #Yorkshire #ruins

Getting close to 800,000 views for my YouTube channel. It began when I needed to find a way of showing former 1970s classmates footage from their schooldays. I went on to screen long-lost TV films. Try Wm Trevor's beautiful screenplay/film The Blue Dress (1983) here: youtu.be/S1GZ0lKc99M #films

I've only a wee YouTube channel but 32k views in 10 days is amazing for a long-lost Frank Sinatra thriller never released on disc. He plays an ex WW2 sniper fooled into a hit on a Russian double-agent. Terrific director-led visuals even if plot is whacky. (Optional subtitles) youtu.be/k3Ch5pkDVdU

Don't know how many William Trevor fans are among my new followers but just in case, a rare treat: a William Trevor film no-one's seen in 40 years (since 1983), adapted by him from his own short story: The Blue Dress. youtu.be/S1GZ0lKc99M

I'm going to track down as many of you as I can. Please could people repost me, so others can see I am here - and I can find them, and them me. Blue skies, herds of unicorns and sunlit uplands beckon. Oh...and another two Tory candidates bite the dust, I understand 👍👍👍

If you buy a website then crap it up you should be legally required to restore the website to its original state, like when they make polluters pay for habitat restoration
