Look, some animals have very distinct smells when they decay! And different meat (which we are all made of) smells differently! Cat meat (VETERINARY CONTEXT, NOT FOOD) smells WAY different than, say, beef or chicken or deer. It's genuinely a good way to distinguish different things!
