Just got my first complaint letter written with AI. Honestly, I’m surprised it took this long. I miss the old days when men would email Erik trying to get me fired. At least those letters had some sass to them.

A really terrific thread of photos of Minnesota crop art this year, with alt text and some additional explanation for people confused by some of the iconography.

“TWIN CITIES 2026 / GUERNICA 1937” by Jennifer Nelson of Fridley. Note the Merit Award from the state fair, and the black and white ribbon from the Minneapolis Institute of Art. Incredibly moving. One of the most powerful images I’ve ever seen.
Crop art by Jennifer Nelson of Fridley MN. At the bottom of the picture there’s a piece of cardboard with the words “TWIN CITIES 2026 / GUERNICA 1937”
Below is a legend of all the seeds and grains used in making the crop art.,
On the left is a pale pink ribbon with the MN State Fair logo and the words Merit Award in gold.
Above it is a large black and white ribbon with “MIA” and “Minneapolis Institute of Art” written on it.

In the Renaissance people theorized, since the Aeneid is great, if you wrote poems made only of words & phrases from the Aeneid rearranged they should be great too, since a great source regurgitated should yield greatness. They produced NOTHING we still read. Thinking about that a lot lately.

New scam I’m seeing targeting writers: Step 1: Fake email from a real publisher will reach out cold Step 2: Chat a bit Step 3: Recommend a real agent/agency, but provides a fraudulent email address to connect Step 4: "Agency" requests $ or suggests editor, who charges $
